3DFusion debuts glasses-free 3DFMax display
Forget all those 1080p sets with internet connectivity -- what you really want is an HDTV that does three-dee. Over at the Digital Signage Expo in Las Vegas, 3DFusion has announced the market launch of its 3DFMax stereoscopic, glasses free, broadcast ready (get all that?) 3D display. The set is built upon the Philips WOWvx 3D solution, but outside of that, we're really left to wonder what this thing's made of. No resolution, no contrast ratio, no price. Just the hope of a chicken in every pot and a 3D HDTV in every den.

I'm kind of confused how this works, I thought these screens were super expensive, why wouldn't they just use the laser screens with a firmware update?
Hopefully someone can clear that up.
Allright, let me explain to you how this works:
Just like Polarised screens this has the vertical lines each designated for a different eye, however, instead of polarising them, they make them point at different angles, just like those holographic cards that changed the image depending on from which angle you were watching it.
This will however also mean that, just like polarised screens, the amount of horizontal pixels will decrease.
Interesting, that means it will lack depth like those holographic cards. You can only get so much depth with that implementation.
Unlike everyone on here that complains about glasses I really don't mind it. They should focus on how to get something like RealD in homes. Now that gives the illusion of depth.

Yeah, but Phillips also said that it might be possible to create so many angles that you would see one part of the line with your left and one part with the right, like so:
--------||
@Vamp, they already have it, almost all the new nvidia games support 3d (just no video support unless its in game rendered). Blu-ray just needs to support it before we will see anything in commercial use. I'm more interested in laser TV's.
Crap, I meant like so
--------|| - Pixel
-------/--\
------/----\
----O-----O - Eyes
Just like polarised screens, you'll get a slightly different image in each eye thus creating a seemingly 3D image.
Are you referring to lenticular cards? Lenticular isn't the same as holographic.
This means with 3D no glasses you have to sit directly in in the center of the tv to see in 3D?

Well,
The 3d impression is quite good. We have measure it on another 3D display from the company tridelity and on the 57" it was around 1 meter outside the display. Very good indeed.
Cheers
I'm just waiting for the stimulus bill to hand me one of these babies.
I can't wait to see this in person.
I wonder if it looks as good as wearing glasses...does anyone know? I honestly dont mind the glasses but if you get a just as good 3D then you would with the glasses this is definitely something worth looking into!
This uses phillips technology if you read the acticle. Its an upgrade of this

same sort of picture as well.
hmmmmm. Three. Dee... DeeDeeDee?
all i gotta say is JONAS BROTHERS IN CONCERT IN 3D!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
wwwwwwwwwooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
yyyyyyyyyyeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
you go cry yourself to sleep in a corner now.
Thank you, and have a nice day
Why would I want a 3D FM ax? I don't need my ax to play the radio in 3D. Does it have 7.1 Channel surround sound? lol
Yeah I don't really care if I have glasses as long as the picture's good. You're basically choosing frame rate or horizontal pixel count, but I don't know which would be easier to improve.
To the fmax!
ooooo glasses free, i like that thats defiantly the future
So basically people like me with a bad lazy eye or people with 1 eye still cant see the 3d? USELESS. They need to start making 3d a different way, where it can be seen with 1 eye. I saw a youtube video of some wii demo on one or something that appeared to work.
So basically, you don't have any idea of what stereoscopy is?
If you want another Great Depression KEEP BUYING FOREIGN shit.
