Pantech Matrix PRO unboxed on video
Pantech's Matrix PRO is certainly an interesting update on the original Pantech Duo, and although we're not super-intrigued by a handset that can't be updated to Windows Mobile 6.5, we're not going to let that get in the way of some unboxing good times -- and they must be good, because PocketNow's Brandon Miniman sounds delighted in this video. We won't hold you back -- it's after the break.

FUGLY
wake me up when the new iPhone's out!
you mean two while i cant say much else there will be the iphone ganum which will be very powerful and the iphone lite which will be smaller
Boring...............let's unbox something interesting.
Not bad
"IE 6.5 totally let us down..."
"We aren't intrigued by something that isn't upgradable to winmo 6.5"
Is John Kerry the new editor and chief of Engadget, or did you go right for Flipper the dolphin?
Even if they never release an "official" update for this phone (and others like the Diamond or Touch Pro) for Windows Mobile 6.5, you'll still be able to run it. I've tried the 6.5 Beta on my HTC Fuze / Touch Pro already and it's certainly interesting. I'm sticking with 6.1 for now though, but maybe my Kaiser (ATT Tilt) will get the 6.5 Treatment for now...
Do you run the Fuze, Verizon or Sprint?
Reason being, the modified Sprint TP OS is awesomely refined in comparison.
I use the ATT Fuze, not running stock ROM. I've compared my modified Fuze to my friend's Stock TP and the TP fails in every way. Get a modifed ROM on your Fuze ASAP if you have one, it makes it 100,000 times more useful and MUCH faster.
well where are we?
have to say this is the sought after pantech duo 2. well i really liked the matrix and i like this one even more
ok secondly i is a little thick but better than the ocean 2
lastly is att's plan to release pro versions of all their messaging phones? it may be because they have the propel pro and the matrix pro
well i know i am getting one

i sure hope you can upgrade this to 6.5 (please microsoft/att/pantech let us!)
I am confused... In your editorial "Ten reasons why Windows Mobile 6.5 misses the mark", you (engadget) seem to be suggesting that there is no need to upgrade to 6.5 - so why does lack of upgradability (sp?) matter now?
I am merely saying this as it seems to be contradictory to a previous position, and it seems to be a pop-shot at this device for the wrong reason. This looks like a pretty decent device - even though it is a little chubby.
It's Engadget, they rarely ever make sense, except when it comes to Apple & how great they are.
"insert matrix pro into sleeve for protection"
i snickered at that
well this is the rumored pantech duo 2 i saw last year from th FCC
anyway i will get this phone it looks pretty cool
I wonder if it is able to be upgrade to wibnmo 6.5, I sure hope it is
i will get this the day it comes out
