LG Versa finds its way out of a Verizon box
At least on this Gregorian calender sitting here in the office, March 1st is still a few days off. True though that may be, it hasn't stopped at least one LX9600 (or Versa, if you prefer) from getting unboxed from its Verizon Wireless packaging. There's no indication of what truck this fell off of, nor if these phones may actually go on sale a few days early, but one thing's for sure -- this unboxer definitely did the honors in a high school cafeteria. Classy, no?

Not a fan of that faux leather backplate.
Isn't that just a case? Which in this case, is actually quite nice.
faux leather to go with that Faux iPhone....
AHAHAH!!!!
and to help out engadget...
"There's no indication of what truck this fell off of"
Answer: The Dump Truck!!!
I with Apple would go ahead and just assassinate the leaders of LG mobile already... how dare they think they can exist in the same time/space continuum as Apple iPhone.. the audacity!
Yeah, I didn't like that on the Bold either. I like my phones hard and industrial.
@Curt
I like my phones the same way I like my women, thick and leathery.
And I wish someone would come into your home and assassinate you in your sleep.
How dare you think we need to read your stupid fanboy drivel, coupled with the fact that we can't downrank you fools into invisibility anymore; The audacity!
Keep making the rest of your sheeple fanbase look bad -- it's no skin off of our backs at all.
i dont see any addons
"it hasn't stopped at least one LX9600..."
It's VX9600, LX is used for Sprint numbering and VX for Verizon
V = Verizon
+1
I still dont see this device being a big hit. The point of a cell phone is mobility and simplicity. Theres nothing mobile or simple about having all these add-ons...at least to me...
So Because you can put on different covers it means its not portable.
what are you talking about? its a typical verizon phone. all it takes is marketing...
I'm pretty sure the add-ons still 'close' when attached...so if you are a gamer...you'd attach the game pad...if you are a texter, you might choose the keyboard. I don't think the intention is for you to carry them all with you.
The having to switch between keyboard, WiFi, gamepad. Thats not portable like. Who would honestly want to carry all that around when other devices do it much more conveniently and with less junk you have to carry. . .
@ Ham: You're right, LOL. People will still buy it up.
@ Jacksplat: But what if you have to text in the middle of a game. Or you want to use WiFi...it just seems a little excessive to get things done. Why not include the WiFi in the phone and eliminate atleast one module.
er... the thing still has a goddamn touchscreen.
Looks exactly like the LG Dare in the case design department. I dont like the idea of add-ons but im willing to see how they work out.
And what about the price? I'm totally losses because everything is way to expensive now. I would buy this for 150 at max.
phones ugly man
is this just me or is this basically the dare with add-ons?
It is basically a Dare... BUT one BIG difference... the OS has been updated to the max, I have a friend who showed me the "test" model at his Verizon store and it is really something to behold...
Who's ugly man and why are calling him.
if your talkin to me, it was just a general statement not pointed to anyone, just 'that phones ugly man'
You know if mix the words in FILA it will spell FAIL? Kind of like your sense of humor and grammar.
o well you hurt my feelings now, lol
looks like you forgot the word "you" between "if" and "mix", but I didn't expect you to pick that up, you know sense you were to busy cracking on me
Perfect example of the pot calling the kettle black :)
that ugly phone is finally unboxed i guess
I do like the textured back... but its a touchscreen dumbphone on verizon.. epic failure.
And all these companies need to listen.
If you want to compete with the iphone, then the phone itself doesnt need to have many features. Simply spend $100 million marketing it, and you have a phone that will compete.
Verizon is LG's bitch.
The keyboard add-on isn't included?!
Dude, did you even look at the photo?
That fake leather thing below the phone is the keyboard add-on.
I quite like it actually , even if the faux leather thing is as cheesy as it could possibly get (unless it turns out to be real leather or to be possible to change it with faux plastic).
I also find it funny how its being criticized because supposedly the foldable add ons are not "portable" enough but to carry multiple devices somehow is.
For what I have seen I'm also very impressed of LG new "S-class" UI if this thing will sport it it will surely be a big point on its favor; of course it remains to be seen what it has to offer besides those add ons: if it features an FM sender like LG's Arena and specially GPS , agood videocam /camera, a good browser, and all the other features of the Arena I might even be tempted to try it instead of my Omnia or my HTC touch HD.
Maybe.
But probably not.
Anyone with me and saying that spending $200+ on a phone and then at least $80/month for 2 years is not worth it no matter what features you get?
I mean really all the phones offer the same stuff just about. All offer, Games, internet, (almost all offer 3G), music, and all the other stuff...
It's great to brag that you have it, but I rather use a computer and keep my phone basic and just have unlimited texting!
How did you get on Engadget sir! LOL! Just kidding. But the point of Smartphones is to have a sort of portable computer. Its mainly for businessmen/women and those on the move.
U must be broke a$$ mofo,.,,
The problem is, when I need to take a pic, check a movie time, find an addy, or check a stock price, I neevr seem to have my PC with me( or my netbook).... but I always have a phone...
I'm sure we all agree , no iphonekiller here!!!
Dear Engadget:
This is once again Shugg/Philosopher, please ban.
Thanking you in advance:
Everyone.
I would get this,. What price??
As I predicted... All crap phones go to Verizon!!
I like Verizon bc they're like the trash can for all the crappy phones out their, keeping the phone companies clear of trash phones.
I just got the Dare two weeks ago, I'm comparing the specs and it seems like the Dare is a better phone overall with the exception of the OS... I'm debating whether or not I should take back my Dare and pay the $35 restocking fee to get this or not. Any input?
I wish they would just update the OS on the Dare to make it run like the Versa.
I just bought this phone two days ago & its sweet! The case & keyboard detach to give it the iphone look and feel. Th graphics are great and scrolling from menu to menu is fun & easy.
