While the rumors of a
PSP2 and
PSP Phone have calmed down of late, they're never truly dead. According to a fluent Japanese speaker translating a Sony Japan job listing for
GameSpot, the company is on the hunt for an "evaluator / assessor for a new game machine." More specifically, that elusive machine is said to be a "part of the PlayStation or PSP series and their peripherals." The listing goes on to state that the lucky winner will "be part of an advisory staff that will play PlayStation series software on this new machine and check its functionality," and they'll also be able to "test game machines not yet released or new functionality of PS3 peripherals before they are released." From there, it's up to your imagination to determine what exactly this could be alluding to, but we're setting our expectations remarkably low as to not be disappointed.

so what you're saying is you've wanted more RAM in a device that really wasn't RAM-limited to begin with, save for Skype (?) and some minor UMD-caching which apparently speeds things up a bit, but really makes no big difference to the average user? And you're angry because you waited two or so years to get it (PSP 2000 release?).
The design looks similar to iriver's old G10 that I don't even believe was released.

that iriver looks pretty good itself
I just want to know where to go to sign up to test whatever device they want I could care less about the money I just want to get my hands on a PSP2 or PSPn phone
and even if a new PSP does come to town its so far behind the DS now it just needs to bow down. Look the PSP does have some good graphics I'll admit it but its the software that makes it bad. No good games for it, no body really cares, so even if there was a new PSP doesnt meant theres gonna be good games to go with it, and the DS is shining so bright, everybody is still gonna want a DS because of the reputation it had through the years now.
Bow down SONY, Nintendo always has something up there sleeve, it might start out as a stupid idea but just when you think there failing they pull stunts and its like "I never thought of that" and everyone buys it, because its fun. Yea the PS3 is really nice, again them graphics but people see Nintendo and think hey you can do that with the other systems, it looks fun and theres a buy
If the little lip on the edge of the slide-out of that render wasn't there (uncomfortable looking), and if the shoulder buttons were actually on the shoulders, and if the screen was actually a thickness that seems relatively possible to manufacture, I would buy one.
Of course, It will never happen.
The most Sony would do to upgrade the PSP is to take the exact same PSP, just remove the UMD drive, add internal user memory and make the back slide-out and have a full keyboard on it. That's probably the most they would do for the next PSP upgrade. Maybe make the ram 128mb or something so the interface could get a massive update, (maybe more PS3-like, or maybe just the PS3 interface. Who knows.)
Hmmm...
If that was the next PSP. I would actually purchase it as long as the game media, disk or Card technology was good. I never really liked the PSP that much.
Please, oh please be a mock-up. I swore many years ago never to own a Sony product but I would be willing to rethink my stance on Sony for this.
The real question is.. "can it run crysis"
why not give the PSP a touch screen with resistive capabilities, and add an accelerometer for phone functionality on a PSP-3000 body and system? Sounds freakin easy to do, and might be the next best thing for Sony to pull out of the murky waters of Lake-No-Make-Money.
this is only a picture put there just to have, it doesnt mean anything. everyone knows that sony will make something really nice, overpriced at first but nice. and now with OLED screens, just imagine what they will make. im just hoping for an OLED touchscreen, camera, accelerometer, and all that stuff. look at the upcoming mobile phones sony is making to get an idea of what they can do.
i like the shape of the psp 1000/2000/3000 models because of the controls at either side of the screen. all they need to do in my opinion, is put all of the buttons plus the sixaxis and dualshock functions onto the existing shape of the psp - and then make it play more high quality games cos at the moment the graphics aren't that great. plus if it had the same functions as a dualshock 3 controller it could be use as a ps3 controller itself. an idea? i dont even know why i bother writing this cos sony never. ever. reads what people are writing about what they really think of their systems on other websites. and they wonder why their sales are being beaten sometimes.
