iriver's gorgeous P7 gets itself a web address
Unfortunately, we're still no closer to finding out when the iriver P7 will be available, but given that it's now showing up on the company's worldwide web portal alongside scads of other beautiful pieces of hardware, we'd say it's certainly closer than before. None of the listed specifications look to have changed, but there sure are a lot of purty images to look at there in the read link. Grab a tissue, place it beneath your chin and head on over.

When I started reading "Grab a tissue" I thought "My gosh! Is Engadget really going where it has never gone before?!"... and I'm glad you didn't :)
Anyway, this thing sure looks sexy... don't mind if I indeed go and grab a tissue... ;)
I'll say what you dare not to say..
I will grab a tissue and wipe off the bodily fluid once I'm done cold-sweating from looking at the gadget pr0n..
there I said it!
I dont know about you guys, but i didn't think of it as that. I just thought he meant to wipe the drool from your face XD
Why does engadget think it's sexy? Because it has a dock? It looks nice but....the shape is like this Garmin device.

i love white gadgets (no racist)
I take it as offensive.....very racist....lol :P j/k
Would you like chocol8 with strawberry on top? Send room service over.
My boyfriend has a nice white gadget.
@rita
Is it an Eee PC?
i think shes talking about her boyfriends wiimote
DOWN with the white gadgets supremacists!!!
Nice
It looks fantastic but the screen resolution is killing it for me, 4.3" screen with a 480x272 resolution is just too small.
Yep, that pretty much kills it for me, too. 800x480 is ideal for a 4.x" screen like this one. Heck, if Archos can do, it can't be very difficult.
* dislike those very square, blocky edges
* like MicroSD expansion
* dislike non-removable battery
* dislike iRiver's 'let's make it all Flash!' annoying website, making it impossible to link to a product page or be ranked by Google sanely
* like the codec support (including Ogg Vorbis & FLAC)
* dislike mono speaker
* still would prefer my PSP, despite some minor shortcomings versus this product, it's far more versatile where it counts, IMO.
"* dislike non-removable battery"
Isn't this a flash PMP? Why would you want a removable battery. I mean, it would be nice, (but it would be nice for most electronics) but it's not really necessary at all.
Although I do agree with the flash website. It's so slooooooooooooooow.
3rdman, what will you do when the battery no longer holds suitable charge after 300-500 charge/discharges? I can think of two options:
1) dispose of the device
2) hunt out suitable battery after doing some surgery on the unit yourself, possibly damaging ti in the process, and...
3) after doing so, finding out it's just not worth it
But there's also the more practical approach of:
when it runs out in the middle of nowhere, you can't swap it out with another. Phones are also flash-based, and most phones have removable batteries. Digital cameras, too. The reasons why this makes sense are many.
I, on the other hand, much prefer the square, blocky edges. I like the way sharp corners and edges look a lot more than the smooth round lines that have become so popular over the last few years. I agree with all your other dislikes, but I'm still going to be awfully tempted by this when it's available.
@tekdroid,
200-300 discharges?
She'll be swimming
Thats simply gorgeous. Feature packed, 32gb space, microSD expansion, touch screen. WOW!!!
Surely it will have iriver's awesome sound and picture quality, but no OLED?? Still it should perform well.
Hope it comes stateside soon.
Could it look any more like a 4G iPod?
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, but this is getting ridiculous...
Same size screen as the Archos 600 series. Be interesting to see how they do head-to-head. I have an Archos but I love my iRiver MP3 player, too.
Also a little disappointed by the non-removable battery. I prefer my Archos 604 over my wife's 605 because I have 3 batteries for my 604 for long trips.
Gorgeous? Right, and Bella Abzug was a real hottie too.
I love the device, but the website was a rat maze. Not even well designed flash, just difficult to navigate. Hope the device menu's are better'n that!!!
all of iRiver's websites/software are like that. I used to have a Clix and the software that came with it was AWFUL. iRiver is great at hardware but really poor on the software end of things.
What's gorgeos about a boxy, thick, hard-edge, prototype-white device that looks like it came from 2001?
My prediction for device of the decade is:
Netbook, with Atom 330 (dual core) or better, 2Gb (or more) RAM, with an OLED screen, SSD and insane battery life.
Dual booting W7 and whatever linux im into at that time.
Its not relevant, but that is the stuff of engadget pr0no there
After reading the latest financial news this morning, I predict the device of the decade will be an abacus.
Lol, iRiver sucks. The thing looks like a Canon IXUS and the dock is a copy of Apples one. This is nothing big…
I fail to see how this is similar to that camera at all, seriously the dimensions are off the camera is much more rounded and it has a huge freaking lens in it. And this dock is much better then Apples it actually does something...
Interface is too slow, no wifi, no buy
I already have a 480x272 device. It's black, it's better, and it plays football and basketball. You do the guesswork.
Joking aside, no excuse for not having at least a 720x480 on a player like this.
iriver sux
why don't they put 3g and android on it and kill the iphone?
I liked this more when it was called the Cowon O2. What will this do that my Cowon won't do besides dock to a power station?
