Amazon's Gold Box sale features Nokia E71 for $289, shipped

Well if your dreams of a new set have been dashed by the Nokia XpressMusic 5800's issues but you still want to shop Nokia, here's a deal for you. Amazon's Gold Box sale today features the lovely -- and arguably Nokia's sassiest QWERTY smartphone -- Nokia E71 in gray for $289 shipped. We peeked at Nokia's shop and they have it priced at $349, and Expansys is at $389, so we're fairly impressed at the price here, though it will only be about at this price today. Heck, we may stock up and make it an early Nokia Christmas this year, for ourselves. The read link will send you off to Amazon's Gold Box page, so if you're reading this article late, the set will be gone.

Sweet. I love the E71 design but I just can't give up the camera/media features my N95-4. If only they'd make a "N71"...

Wise guy. :)

I think ill wait for the N97 and buy myself a good camera instead. But MAN that is a great deal! I bet this won't be the last time though or at least i really hope not. AWWW!! the urge! I want it but i shouldnt...
eggothewaffle @ Feb 28th 2009 4:48PM
Oh man, this is the best phone made so far. And it's going for $289? Considering you pay half of what you would for the data plan for "cheaper" subsidized phones on AT&T like the Fuze or iPhone 3G, this is an *amazing* deal.
john @ Feb 28th 2009 4:54PM
best phone ever.

Very nice offer. Here in Finland (the home of Nokia) E71 sells for 400 EUR, or about 500 USD.
Jamali @ Feb 28th 2009 5:23PM
hows the web browser on here compared to safari on the iphone?
thedesolate1 @ Feb 28th 2009 6:49PM
It displays pages in full html jsut like the iphone.
Aaron @ Feb 28th 2009 7:15PM
It's based on the same rending engine as Safari (WebKit) but includes Flash too.
Only downside is that using a web-browser on a non-touchscreen can be fiddly. I don't have too many problems though. :)
Mobius_1 @ Feb 28th 2009 7:44PM
Actually I think the input method is not really the problem, but the smaller screen size may make it a little less comfortable. But it's not like anything can approach a proper computer in that regard.
zephxiii @ Feb 28th 2009 5:53PM
Very nice, I got mine a few weeks back for 300 bucks shipped at newegg. Its worth every penny!

Why does Amazon Canada suck so badly compared to their American counterparts?
Michael @ Feb 28th 2009 6:23PM
Canada sucks compared to its American counterparts period
Peter @ Mar 1st 2009 9:28PM
At least our companies don't require multibillion-dollar bailouts.
The Walrus @ Mar 2nd 2009 1:27AM
That was a sweet burn
egloskerry @ Feb 28th 2009 6:57PM
Very tempting, but I don't have a lot of money right now. It needs to come out on ATT already.
Mobius_1 @ Feb 28th 2009 7:46PM
That is a damn nice price for a really slick phone. The keyboard feels great to type on and overall feels very solid and a real quality mobile. Now my only complaint with it is the lack of a 3.5mm jack, and in today's mobile market, a flaw like that is one I won't tolerate.
Richard Glitter @ Feb 28th 2009 8:15PM
bought it, thanks for the heads up!
Rob Lewis @ Feb 28th 2009 9:24PM

You wouldn't believe it, but the regional wireless company (leverages at&t's network outside of the region) Cincinnati Bell is currently running a promotion where all of their phones are free with any service plan on $59.99/month or higher. This includes the Nokia e71, and many blackberries. Oh and no contracts. http://cincinnatibell.com/consumer/wireless/phones_and_devices/?id=nokia_e71
