Pentax bridge digital camera image leaked ahead of PMA?
It appears the folks at Colorfoto.de have erred in our favor. In an article for the Olympus E-620, a seemingly random image has popped up of a currently unknown Pentax digital camera. What makes it especially interesting is the appearance of an EVF / LCD option -- which so far the company has not use for any of their models. It also bears a striking resemblance to a DSLR-esque "bridge" camera, which would make it Penny's first in that category. Looks like we've got another reason to anticipate next week's PMA.

What a breaktrough! I'm amazed...
hmmm... no, I'm not.
Does seem like little news - like Engadget fixing a grammar error and sending out a press release. Thru the dead AP.

Looks like a new model in the Pentax K Series to me...I don't see the hotshoe, but it could have been erased.
Nope! What about that macro button? Is there a DSLR anywhere with MACRO button?
EVF/LCD. Icky. That someone would even want to use either an EVF or an LCD blows my mind. They're atrocious.
Clearly you haven't used DSLRs with manual focus lenses. Wanna know what's atrocious? The view finder screens of modern DSLRs. They are pieces of shit, you cannot manually focus worth shit using them. I'd gotten into manual focus lenses in the past 2 months, and relied on focus confirmation because there just was no way to tell when I had focus using an F1.4 lens. I got so fed up that I ordered a replacement screen that has a traditional split prism/microprism collar for focusing. Immediately I find out that my DSLR had a severe front focus issue with its manual focusing (i.e., what appears in focus on the screen is actually not on the sensor). And all along I couldn't tell that because the view finder screen sucked so hard.
With modern DSLRs that have cruddy finders, the only way to get really precise focusing with manual focus fast prime lenses is with an LCD or EVF.
My spidey sense is telling me I've seen all these parts before on different cameras and this is a photoshop, yet its far more reasonable to think this is real. Go figure.
Pentax demonstrated that they aren't deserving of anyone's hard-earned dollars with their "Official Digital Camera of the Internet" ad campaign. Usually I don't pay attention to ad campaigns that much, but something like that is downright insulting and stupid.
Yeah, their marketing department is staffed by a bunch of bone-heads, but their products are solid. I'm a very happy K2000 owner, and know another very happy K10D owner.
On another note, Pentax cameras share quite a bit of technology with Samsung, so this picture may be the just-announced Samsung bridge camera with the Pentax name-badge on it.
before i pull the trigger on a Canon 40D i want to know...
does Canon have any plans to release any new DSLR's that will make me cry for buying a 40D?
