T-Mobile brings $50 unlimited voice plan to rest of America
Well, that "trial" didn't last long at all, now did it? Just days after teeing up a $50 unlimited voice plan in the great city of San Francisco, T-Mobile USA has reportedly taken said plan nationwide. Users are already buzzing about the widespread availability, though it should be noted that the same "loyalty requirements" from the San Fran pilot are still in effect for the rest of the nation. In other words, you have to have been a T-Mob subscriber for at least 22 months and have been in good standing the whole time. Oh, and being cute probably helps.

I'm on the phone trying to get this plan AND my 10% Freelancer's Union discount... I'd like to have my cake and eat it too. If not, I'll gladly give up the 10% savings on my $50 plan with no LD to get a better plan for the same money.
I'm on hold w/ the corporate group and they say they can't do it with the corp note on my account. That's fine, I'll just forgoe the discount.
Tmobile reps are so artificially chipper... it scares me.
Ok, so the rep I spoke to in Loyalty added the plan despite the computer not showing that I qualified for it - presumably because my account had just change from corporate back to personal.
SORRY SPRINT, THAT'S PRETTY MUCH A WRAP. BON VOYAGE!
Actually Sprint prepaid offering (Boost Mobile) has a larger nationwide footprint and is 50 bucks for unlimited talk, text, pic mail, and web, oh yeah PTT too. And when they say 50 bucks they mean 50 bucks no taxes, government fees, and no contracts. Now that my friend kills T-Mobile sorry attempt at an unlimited plan which only inlcudes talk and text. Owned!!!!!
Boost? That's just on the old iDen network. What smart-phones do they offer? What real data? Walled WAP browsing doesn't count. Boost is good for talk and text, but if you want good smart-phone hardware and data options, too bad. De-PWNED.
DANG!!! I need this for my mom, since she kills all our mins, but we have only been with Tmo for a few months. I wish it was only a year and not 22months. 50 bucks for unlimited. We will probably switch before then, well she will probably switch. I actually like Tmo. All my friends have it, and the ones who dont I use myfaves or txt.
My unlimited family plan was 149.99 -- now it's 89.99 (for two lines)
Thank you TMobile!
Seightan,
What actually costs them? I think not more than $2 including all services and maintenance costs.
Nah....Think ill stick with my Unlimited Everything From Sprint.
Better Network.
This wouldnt keep me from gettin rid of my Boost Unlimited Plan Either. Not quite as good Data as T-Mobiles......But its still under Sprints Network and more for the same money.
Might get people to switch from Metro Pcs though. So they can travel outside their Coverage "City"
Not exactly. I was considering switching back to Sprint to get the $100 Simply Everything plan with the Palm Pre until I heard about this. Today I log into my T-Mobile account, see that it is offered to me and call up customer care. By the time I was done, I had unlimited everything for $85 ($50 for unlimited minutes, $25 for unlimited data, $10 for unlimited messaging).
While it is true that Sprint has a better data network, I can counter that with the ability to actually use any phone that I want (currently the Nokia E71). I'm not limited only to what Sprint sells. And wifi often negates Sprint's big advantage there.
But the point is they keep people from switching. And you Already Have T-Mobile..which this is geared towards retaining its 2 year customers.Otherwise Had you not have had T-Mobile already you would have gotten Sprint as opposed to having to accrew 22 months of time for a similar plan and save the $15.
Which still does not include the Turn By Turn Nav, TV, NFL Mobile and Other Services. Which T-Mobile doesnt offer.
Some sprint Models Do have wifi...but in the case of your Phone your limited to Paying full Price to have a phone you would otherwise get at discount
this is not bad considering AT&T's cost 99.99 for the plan, and an additional 99.99 for each line
Does that $50 all-you-can-yap-yap include tax too or excludes? I can see other dawgs following this step just to keep their head in the game...
Other dawgs led the way.
MetroPCS rolled this out a while back. $50 talk all you want nationwide.
The loyalty thing seems dumb to me. That means this plan will only steal customers from people already on more expensive plans of theirs, no "conquests".
I agree, but they are saving customers like myself who were considering the Sprint because of the Palm Pre. Now my loyalty to the T is cemented. They might get a WebOS phone eventually. Plus, the Curve 8900 is a sweet phone that I'll be happy with for a long time.
Yep, I'm in the exact same position as MBN. Except I opted for an unlocked Nokia E71 instead of the BB 8900. Either way, this plan kept me from bolting to Sprint for the Pre.
I just got off the phone with T-Mobile. I was looking to do this deal for myself, but unfortunately, the T-Mobile server system is completely crashed, and they're now advising everyone to call either much later tonight or...
"It'd be in your best interest to call T-Mobile tomorrow, sir", the overly-chipper T-Mobile rep said.
lets be real the iphone was $600 launch and had 3G issues. lets not forget the very first ones did not have 3G,never versions still lack video, video conferencing, sms messaging, video out 3.2MP cam record @ 480,FM radio, and or handwriting recognition. for $400, plus they could not have known what would happen once the gadget hit the masses. and please don't try to use the speaker as a problem because that is not proven to be in the nam and if it were they would be fixed asap
my bad wrong topic!
i don't think this is totally about competing with Sprint which most analysts say are currently hemmoraging customers and have been for about two years. I think this is a way to keep currently expensive good customers from saying, If i'm going to pay $110 bucks a month why not just go to AT&T and use the Iphone. T-mobile is saying better to take a small hit by giving better service and retain customers then lose them all and get nothing. And if it works, it can be a plan they can offer even new customers. Additionally, i think the Pre will be a big seller too so this will give them a buffer until the g1 replacements come and till the end of the year when they may be able to get their own PalmOS enabled device. Point is i don't think this is really about fighting for budget prepaid customers. I think it's about cracking the higher end smart phone wanting clients.
$50 unlimited sounds good at first, but if you need data, that becomes a 70unlimited plan without taxes. Only reason why I'm not jumping at boost's REAL $50 unlimited plan is cause their phones look wack, no full keyboards. So now I have to stay with tmobile for another 16months of paying $120 just to qualify? lol, that is rediculous. Metro PCS snuck in with their $40 unlimited plan in the NYC area, so other company's have to adjust to "entice" their customers. Give it some time, more and better unlimited plans will start popping up
Was is everyone finding reasons to complain. I have been in the wireless industry for many years. Maybe we should go back to the late 1980s when it was an excess of a dollar a minute would that be better? Quit complaining people this is a great plan.
