Apple just announced new 24-inch and 20-inch
iMacs, with some friendlier pricing and Mini DisplayPort video out. Prices start at $1,199 for the 20-inch and $1,499 for the 24-inch. At the base level Apple offers a 20-incher with 2.66Ghz Core 2 Duo processor, 2GB of RAM, a 320GB HDD and GeForce 9400M graphics, the rest of the iMacs are 24-inch numbers with 4GB of RAM standard. In the high end Apple has 2.93GHz and 3.06GHz processor for $1,799 and $2,199, respectively, with GeForce GT 120 256MB and GeForce GT 130 512MB graphics. In between there's a 24-incher for $1,199 with 9400M graphics, a 2.66GHz processor and a 640GB HDD. On the outside it's that same iMac candy shell you know and love, though Apple has oddly replaced the standard wired keyboard with a new numeric keypad-free model -- those pesky numbers are available as an option. All models are available now, full configurations are after the break.
Update: Early information across the wires listed the new iMacs with Core i7 processors. Sadly, this is not the case, and we've updated the post to reflect the boring reality of the situation.

2004 called and wants its 24" Monitor back:
24-inch (viewable) glossy widescreen, 1680 by 1050 pixels
No quad core? Damn!
guess they havn't updated the tech specs page, still lists graphics as ATI Radeon.
for $1499 I would have gotten one with a i7, now not so much. Back to my newegg wishlist.
Thank you Apple for allowing me to put a 1TB drive in a 20 incher. I don't need a 24 inch monitor and historically Apple has reduced the upgrade capacity of the smaller iMacs. I can't believe what I'm seeing from Apple but this is a competitive price for a great machine and I'm going to pick one up!
(Is anyone else having trouble getting to checkout in the Apple store? I keep getting an error message)
Without Core i7 this is a seriously boring update and given Apple's hardware development cycle, we'll probably be sitting around waiting for Core i7 until at least the summer...
iMac = A laptop stuffed in an LCD case.
yawn!
this is just so ridiculos!
they now have shared memory graphic chips in all the affordable models, haven't they?
And if I have to spend 1.800 for an imac, then I can just get a pro and be a lot happier at it...
apple keeps disappointing too much lately.
is it the crisis?
are they swimming in the shit like all the others... well, this ain't gonna help 'em out I guess...
Am I mistaken but the 24" resolution went from 1920x1200 to 1680x1050?
always been that way..
My 24" is 1920x1200 pixels....
Wait the minute, the 20" went from having a discrete graphics to integrated graphics with shared memory? Bummer. Not everybody has room for a 24".
That's what she said!
Oh, and what's with the trend of unbundling the remote? It's kinda understandable for laptops, but for the iMacs and minis? What happen with Apple's theme of everything comes in the box?
The new iMac?- more like face-lifted iMac. With no Blu-ray, no multi-card reader and no wireless keyboard with numeric pad and only chip changes how is this an all new machine?
Thanks Apple for the power boost and price reduction but where are the additional features we were all waiting for?
Well good sir, what about features like .. like the new sharper and crazy sexy stand! Like a hawt doorstop!
The new iMac has DDR3 support
Who wants to play Dance Dance Revolution on a computer? Isn't that better suited to gaming consoles?
...puuuulllll de strings... puuuuuuullll de strings...
The foot is tapered on the iMac. Making it easier to slide the keyboard underneath. Same tapered foot design as the new 24" LED screen.
