We knew MSI's newest
X-Slim laptops were ultrathin, but it wasn't until we saw 'em in person here at CeBIT that we truly appreciated the design. These are definitely amongst the sexiest laptops we've seen in some time, though it only took a moment for fingerprints to begin marring the previously flawless glossy top. Both were appropriately sturdy and remarkably lightweight, and if these are any sign of where MSI is going with its styling, we can't wait for the future. On that note, we should also mention that we stumbled upon the absolutely gigantic
GT725. Granted, that machine is aimed squarely at the gaming crowd, but it just looked unnatural after toying with its fitness-minded siblings just seconds earlier. We went a little crazy with the camera, but feel free to only peek the thumbnails you like.

For me, the Pavilion dv5t special addition looks closer in styling than the crap book air does. Firstly, the air isn't a good seller for apple and it's way to frigging expensive for what you get, so why would anyone in their right mind emulate it. apple's piece of shit is so poor in quality, I seriously doubt it will see another iteration. It's total junk.. the apple cube (remember that other remarkable piece of shit from apple) is the only machine from apple that surpasses it in customer complaints. The HP however, is a good seller with some value 4.3 out of 5.0.

Normally I would give anyone's opinion a go (as one should).
But looking at your immature avatar I really cant expect anything mature or fair from you.
so I shan't bother im afraid.
next?
Uh sorry, but the only thing worse than a fanboy is an anti-fanboy.
Not to mention whether you like or hate apple, the design is a blatant rip off and the article claims that they were admiring the design.
Pavilion dv5t more than the Air?
AAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHA!
You're deranged.
when will MSI wise up and kill the VGA port like other manufacturers already???
when projectors with DVI input cost significantly less.
Graphics adapters are something you should already have, and if they kill the port then that will increase demand, prices go down, we go back down to three "viable" options for graphics adapters, DVI, HDMI, and DisplayPort.
Why kill it ? every HDTV I've ever seen has HDMI & VGA and most monitors still have VGA. In fact VGA still gives great picture quality so why dump it at all ?
I still think that Lenovos are the best looking laptops around. Their matte black finish does not attract fingerprints and is much more reliable than anything else on the market.
This slim laptop is a very attractive product to me. it improves on every shortcoming the Macbook Air has (in my perspective) and can be reasonably priced between the normal laptop price level and the premium that apple charges for their miniaturization and high grade materials.
In real life, I would certainly value having an SD card reader on every computer, having enough USB ports and VGA and Ethernet ports for using this PC at home.
Niiiice
I'm amazed at how obviously close this is to the MacBook. They used to at least steal pieces of design but try to keep something different, but all I can see different is the ugly hinge, the white circle around the camera, and that damn Windows key.
To those who say it's a cheaper alternative, remember, you get what you pay for, and you'll be getting Windows Vista.
The price should be different too...
Sorry, I didn't understood well your last sentence at first read...
Sure you'll get vista, but you can get rid of it and install linux.
I''ll install Windows 7 on it as soon as it comes out.
I've got a Wind which runs Leopard perfectly. Come April, I'll be enjoying my X-Slim running OSX as well :)
lmao, look there's also a apple studio display.... srry, i mean a msi studio display on picture 5. shame on you msi
It should be embarrased.
It really feels wrong, cause they are copying apple design so shamelessly... but at the same time, these things are sexy...
Guys - I'm ashamed of you. Take a look at the background of pictures 6, 7, 8, and 9. Could you not have tried harder to get the leggy blond bird in focus!?!?
I was going to get a MacBook Air, but I think I'll get this instead. They're pretty much the same, right?
All that this is is a rather bad copy of an air... also, looking at the ports and size, its rather comparable to a regular macbook, not the air...
So did they completely copy Apple or just a little?
Pic 8 shows what this site is about. A hot blonde and some dude holding a laptop, and the wrong one is in focus.
Oh I'll have a black one please, and a nice copy of OSX86. Plenty of change left to throw at people waiting in a queue outside an Apple store.
HAHA I like to have money in my pocket rather than smell my own farts
I am definitely thinking about picking this up. Works with Zune!!
Damn, for a moment there I thought it was an Apple announcement :o
it's even taken the single trackpad button from the Mac. All they need now is a chiclet keyboard and the copying would be complete
so every msi product is inspired by apple design it seems
Is this a joke? It looks exactly like a thinner version of the MacBook. In fact, this is most likely what Apple has in store for the next update of the MacBook air.
"We knew MSI's newest X-Slim laptops were ultrathin, but it wasn't until we saw 'em in person here at CeBIT that we truly appreciated the design. "
Are you kidding me?!? Appreciated the design? The same design that the MacBook air has had for how long now?!
It's one thing to prefer a PC laptop, or prefer the specs on this or the price, but the design?!?
Wow...
alright people enough with the macbook air comparisons
They did take alot of the design aspects but c'mon,
who wouldn't spend like 500-1000 dollars on this instead of paying 2000 for a macbook air
On top of their laptop's being an undeniable copy of Apple's current MacBook line, their all in one computer looks like the old white iMacs and their displays (I'm not sure if these are all in ones as well) look like the old G4 Cinema Displays. Why cant MSI and other PC manufactures come up with some good original designs like Voodoo (without the price tag). Other vendors of consumer electronics copying Apple designs is not new however, think about the iPhone and Palm Pre; Mac OS X and Windows Vista / 7; the original MacBook line and the Sony VAIO. Imitation may be the best form of flattery but in the eye's of Apple, its also the best form of plagiarism.
What a cheap looking rip off. Is Apple the only company out there trying to innovate? No wonder they're doing so much better than everyone else – the rest of the industry is cranking out cheap copies and competing on price. Gross.
Is it surprising that everyone is so "inspired" by Apple's design prowess? No. What's really IS shameless is Engadget claiming that it hasn't seen anything like this "in a long time".
