That's a rather odd position for the flash. Why didn't they just make it a pop-up? (putting greater distance between lens and flash can help reduce redeye)
Most folks who will buy this camera will use photoshop elements to remove any red eye, and this camera is aimed at "elements" level photographers.A non-uber setup is understandable, nay expected.
Whats with all the super plain looking cameras coming out these days? Recession means no company can hire a designer?
Man that's one ugly camera!
Yeah, though it's actually quite sleek that blind cyclops eye really gives one the shivers. That and the blank space at the back where the finder should be.
ugly? why is everyone hating on it? i happen to think it's pretty nice looking (from the front at least) - nice clean lines, comfortable-looking grip... it's simple, it's straightforward, and for the price i think it'll be a nice seller.
I am tired of digital camera makers claiming zoom factors while totally ignoring if these are optical or digital zooms. Frankly to me digital zoom is totally useless as I can always use photoshop for that the only think you should care about is optical zoom. If you are not sure about the difference this is a good place to quickky read about it http://www.printrates.com/resources_zoom.php after understanding you'd learn to ignore digital zoom factors they are really not important feature of a camera.
The big "10X Optical" on the top may be a hint.
But seriously, most makers these days just put in the Digital zoom as a footnote. I can't think of the last time where the claimed zoom was digital.
FOV? Sensor size? Speed? A/S Priority? Scene modes?
I don't get how this stands out at all... The 10X zoom on a smaller-than-superzoom form factor is not too shabby, but that's only assuming everything else is on par with the rest of the P&S market. Since nothing's been said about any of the non-marketing-buzzword features, I have to wonder whether they're intentionally leaving the little details out because they're worse than the other cameras out there, or because the people who put out this press release (and probably the camera too) need a clue about their target demographics.
And the accessories list is weak. It'd be one thing to say, filters and flashes or stuff, but Kodak-branded batteries, memory cards, and bag? Can they make the press release any more bland?
