Toshiba's TG01 brings glück to Germany with O2 exclusivity
Toshiba's TG01 and its surprisingly awesome color bar-centric UI will soon be saying "guten tag" to its German friends. O2's announced that it'll be the exclusive carrier for the phone in Deutschland and will launch it sometime this summer, with mum being the word currently on price. So far it's the only TG01 launch we've heard about on this or any other planet, but we'd reckon a few more carriers will be chiming in soon to pick up the device for their respective countries.

Anything for us on the other side of the pond?
oh and thanks for that read link. Atleast the specs were in English
double first?
dude, in the read link there is a link on the right side which says "englisch" - you might be able to understand that ;)
I reckon with a 1ghz processor and a 4 inch screen this is exactly what i want a phone and a divx player.
touche salesman, touche
damn iphone got served
Why would any normal person buy this? It's HUGE!
Yeah, why?
Oh, its only 9.9 mm thick, has a micro SDHC slot for 32 GB memory, has a 4.1-inch display, a 1 GHz processor and weighs 129 g. Now why would we want that? maybe because it looks pretty damn sweet!
It's not that huge. Look it up at pdadb.net. The physical dimensions is very similar to my previous phone, an O2 Xda Flame, except the Toshiba is thinner. The Xda flame fits in my pocket just fine. As far as viewable screen dimensions go, compared to the Xda Flame, the Toshiba is similar in width but longer in height.. which screams a perfect upgrade for me. It's lacking a few things the Flame can do, like USB-On-the-Go, but I don't use that feature. If only the Toshiba supports USA 3G bands.... :(
Was kostet das? Ich will es jetzt. kdankeaufwiedersehen.
vermutlich sehr viel ;)
woww the processor in that phone is insane!
But it only comes with a 1000mah battery... i wonder how long can it last..
check out the dudes hands in the slashdot photo. wow.
Oh. My. God.
That is so disgusting! It looks like the dude's hand is dead! WTF?!? ewwwwwww
begging for a zombiehead animated gif
It almost made me throw up. :-x
That...thing...it the phoen!
Huge ugly beasty that thing is.
If you're going to stick a 4.1" screen on a mobile, it'd better have almost zero bezel, not a whacking big one.
still has WINDOWS MOBILE, so it sucks
With a moniker like "TG01" it really *should* be running Android...
What are you talking about, it's not huge at all, up to 5" is pocketable in my opinion (well some people are smaller so they have smaller pockets and hands, but that's not my problem LoL).
Actually, I think the battery is 1500mAh, I've seen some sites reporting it as 1000 and some as 1500... I'm sure there will be extended batteries on sale, and given that the device is so slim, even if an extended battery doubled its thickness I wouldn't care (and that would be one big-ass battery)
In the end you want PC-like browsing and multimedia experience, and the bigger the screen the better, especially with a resistive touchscreen... You need at least 3.5" to take advantage of the WVGA resolution... Speaking of which, the TG01 probably isn't gonna be bigger than the Touch Pro2, even though its screen is 0.5" bigger, as the Touch Pro2 has more space on the sides and is chunkier. So, I really don't think size would be an issue. It's only 0.6" bigger than the iPhone and its slimmer, so... In the end if you're going for the TG01 you want performance and you don't mind or even want bigger size. If the TG01 only had a slide-out QWERTY it would be the perfect device.
Dude, with a screen that big screw the hardware keyboard!
WOW this phone is amazing. Makes my G1 cry in shame, which made my old iPhone cry in shame lol.
Shouldn't it be "Guten Tag"?
/grammar polizei
Yes, and also "Glück". Americans trying to type German when they don't know much about it... awful.
This is the best design for my WM needs ever - I would love to see this unit than another HTC brick foisted on us Sprint users.
The world needs more Japanese-designed phones
slimline is fantastic. not fussed by winmo though android option would be cool to
A7
Dear Toshiba,
Please don't screw this up like Sony Ericsson screwed up the X1.
Make sure it has 6.5, upgradeable to 7.
Thank you.
