Hah, I will make so much fun of anyone who buys this at this price. Um, no thanks, I'd rather wait until the WD 2TB goes down to $200 or under and then buy 2 drives or something and put them in my case rather than have this thing sitting around for 4x$300=$1200 and an additional $300 for the enclosure, no thanks. Or maybe just wait another year until they come out with 3TB ones :P There's the convenience of a single HDD external enclosure and then there's this crazy thing...
You are talking nonsense. Wait another 10 years, maybe you'll get it for $20 then.
$300 for 2TB is way overpriced when u can get 1TB for around $100 now. It's only that expensive because it just came out and it'll soon go way down to around $200-220, I'm talking within a few months - then you can buy 4 of them if u have the urge for 8TB of storage for $800-$900 rather then spend $1700 on this thing... IThey're charging you $300 for JUST the enclosure that's insane...
maybe you should read the article again....... their offering more then just the drives...

I hope it's more stable than the MyBooks. So many of those have crapped out I will never trust WD with my data again.
Get a Drobo instead!
It would be nice if it came with an eSata port. Especially for those wanting to use it in conjunction with a computer based DVR setup (SageTV in this case).

Eh, no thanks I think I'll wait for the 2TB My Books to hit. Until then I can just hope for ebay live.com cashback to hit 25% again so I can snap up some more 1tb drives for $75 a pop.
I have to say, after working with some high end NAS units, the setup for these is very easy to use and the E-mail/SMTP alert options work very well.

Never ever buy those green shits from WD.
I have bought 4 of them for my synology CS406 and 2 of them died within 6 months. A third one died last week.
I searched the web to see if other people had similar problems and I found this interested post about WD green disks:

don't say you haven't been told.
although I must say I was luckier as I returned the disks to the shop I bought them from and they replaced them on the spot.
Now I went back last week end for the 3rd one and now they say I'm doing something wrong with the disks so they will first check with WD.
Anyway, I'm going to sell them 2nd hand and get some real hard drives instead.
NB: the 3rd disk died after 9 months. So I can't wait to see when the last one will die.
well better still .....if u wait for 40 years they might be givin these ones for free with chip 2050 magazines
