Of the $13.8 billion worth of returned products in 2007, only 5 percent were because gadgets were actually broken, according to a 2008 study.

Come on kids lets go to Blackberry App World!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DpsMGpMIqNk
is this only for the storm?
Good question!
Hopefully most applications will be backwards compatible to some of the previous variations of the OS.
Storm and Bold OSs are pretty much the same.
iirc they're targeting all OS's 4.2.1 and later.

I think this is all lies from the iphone camp.
I have no idea what im talking about btw
Do you remember...
Handango ?
Renaming for the sake of renaming just makes things sound worse and sometimes less straightforward.
The sidekick I had in high school had an app store before you precious iphone existed. Idiot.
Ugh...not even gonna say it.
Proof once again that iphone not only revolutionized cells on a global scale on jan of 2007, but also digital cams,pmps,mp3s, n now application stores.A clear ripoff by rim n bb.Apple will not sue though, revolutionaries actions speak louder than words.insane!!! We are all watching history be made.,1 device that revolutionized.......
pretty sure the app store didn't come out jan 07
Dumbass,
Mobile app stores have been around for years from Palm, WinMo, and Blackberry.
They weren't run by the individual companies though. Several third party companies sold apps that you can get directly through your device. Along with that were tons of free apps also.
Rank down Shank for being a dumbass, having no clue what he was talking about, and not being able to spell. Please.
The iPhone appstore wasn't the first application store for smart phones any more than the iPod was the first MP3 player on the market. Just because you hadn't heard of something until it was plastered all over TV and the net doesn't mean it didn't exist.
Furthermore, your implication that copying good ideas is something to be looked down on is ridiculous.
I was using Handango before the iphone was even a stain in your panties. Please do your research before posting. Thanks.
What the fuck are you talking about? Sidekick's had app stores long before the iPhone.
There were camera phones long before the iPhone AND higher quality camera phones to boot.
Phones played MP3's ages before the iPhone was released.
Get your facts straight.
Holy shit, Shank...leave some Kool-Aid for the others. You're not supposed to drink ALL of it...yikes!
Glad they don't call it a Blackmarket.
What are you talking about? That name would be AWESOME. O_O
And years later, if RIM finds itself in need of money, it could just file a patent lawsuit against every black market in the world. Financial funding AND crimefighting all in one!
I would buy a Storm just buy stuff from the "Blackmarket"
Lol yeah that would've been pretty nice actually.
priceless
what's happening to RIM? are they lacking creativity in the naming department because this sounds more like a pedofile kind of app store than what their business centric target audience is.
stfu plx
I can't wait to check this out on my BlackBerry Netbook 9530!
Rim is in trouble and this whole app universe thing is irrelevant.
They should buy Palm if they want to survive the coming years.
nobody is coming remotely close to taking over their power in the business world, they're safe
Should have kept the Blackberry metaphor, and called it the vine or something like that.
Featuring Blackbarry Mouse
Blackberry site doesn't seem to linked correctly to your "Read" link or it was moved/removed.
It will work at around 10PM EST according to some other sources.
@laughing_skullx: Like this post, for example.
The most compelling reason to toss my Storm, yet!
Because the app store is finally showing up? That makes sense.
i see your point, a company launches a new product for a phone that you own is the PERFECT reason to ditch the phone ..... moron
Calm down, kids. I am not actually going to toss my phone. I was just making fun of the store's name.
I forgot the internet has no room for lighthearted humor and sarcasm. My deepest apologies.
Yeah, you have to type in a disclaimer before you say anything sarcastic on the internet... kinda hard to detect voice tones in text!
Complain about the name of the "app store" more please. It's just and "app store" geez...
links dead in my world. our my job computer blows. probably the second. i hate my my life
blackberry app universe... there that's bigger yet
Just so you know... I got dibs on " App Galaxy"... and " App Universe". Not too much interested in " App Mall", so you can have it ;-p
I'm heading an entirely different direction and got my eyes on "App Dimension"
I was thinking "App Multiverse".
App Underverse :)
The best they could come up with was App world?
Whatever, I'll take it. JUST LAUNCH IT ALREADY!
it better work pretty darn flawlessly at this point for keep us wait so long. ;-]
Blackberry made yall wait 8 years but its finally here rim world,.,.,.,
Shank, shut your iTard fanboy ass up.
@ lazymoeg... who's complaining? I count 5 posts that actually talk about the name of the app store, and 4 of 5 are meant to be funny, not really bitchy.
Perhaps they'll sell the "Learn to have a Sense of Humor" app. Would be great for some people, wouldn't you agree?
How about you read the lower ranked comments before you reply to me.

Name should be "orchard"
I still can't believe they are using the SAME iconset of Ubuntu's package manager, synaptic.. It's just lame, millions of cellphones sold and they doesn't have money to pay a icon designer?
I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed that.
You know, as far as retail goes, doesn't adding the term "World" to the end of things makes them seem generic?
Like... PetSmart vs Pet World?
Boat World!
Tire World!
Piano World!
TV World!
Midget World!
Of course, as you read these things out loud, you must imagine a loud TV commerical with a man yelling the name at you with tons of reverb/echo.
"A-aaaaaaaPP WORRRRRRLD! (-orld-orld-orld-orld...)"
"App World, for all your application needs! Come to App World! We got thousand of apps in our inventory! Flashlight apps! Tip calculator app! Excel apps! Text message apps! All kinds of apps for all kinds of needs! APP WORLD!Onthecornerofhighway1andstreet40acrossfromtheFarmer'sMarket...
See you at A-aaaaaaPP WORRRRRRRLD!(-orld-orld-orld-orld...)"
Spatula City! Spatula City! Spatula City!
Holy crap Derb you got EXACTLY what was going through my head!!! Too f'n funny!

LOLOLOL I herd dat appel has dis app for da iphone which makes fart sounds, u know, for work!!!11eleven
(Well, that`s about as much "work" as you will accomplish on it, judging by your clearly excellent understanding of the english language.)
Hey Shank, why are you a trolling clown?
I like
Too bad, what a great opportunity to call it "Blackberry Juice"
http://www.blackberry.com/appworld/
Is it going to be an actual 'app' or something on the phone, or is is it just a webpage you browse on the phone?
Also i have this phone with Verizon and it never says 3G in the corner like it does with the one up top... it always says 1XEV. Verizon said that is 3G...
And one more thing... i think you guys should make this site and Engadget Mobile link up the same way Joystiq and the Xbox, Playstation and Wii versions of the site do.
On CDMA (Verizon) it won't say 3G...Only on GSM (Vodaphone or other GSM based carriers). 1XEV is the '3G' of CDMA.
Anyone else experiencing slow e-mail delivery on their Blackberries? Seems like everytime RIM upgrades something, e-mail delivery is disrupted. Many of my users had e-mail delays of an hour, that are starting to trickle through right now.
Looks like lots of jacked icons from synaptic.
I'm not going to argue who came out with what first, but man!!! all the iPhones competitors screenshots are UUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGLLLLYYYYYY!!!!
Cant they just TRY and make it a little easier on the eyes?
no one can match Apple's standards
As far as a flashy UI is yeah... but overall functionality they're probably not in the top 3 for smart phones.
Oh snap!
It'll get exponentially bigger from here. The next device by Company X will be App Galaxy, followed by Competitor Y's App Universe! Isn't hyperbole great?
Rim, seriously WTF.
It's 10pm.
Wow that was a waste...It's just a sign up page.
Wow, that was the dumbest shit ever.
yeah that wasn't really exciting.
I hope this is released soon. More/Better Apps is what this device needs right about now.
That's funny that the screen shot calls it app center. Were they conflicted on the name?
Looks like Synaptic?
There will BikiniBlast ^_^
Lol, RIMmer's World
