SanDisk working on "Sansa Tap" trademark
It could come to nothing, but the enterprising crew at DAPReview just dug up a SanDisk trademark filing for a player called the "Sansa Tap." The mark hasn't been granted yet, but it's been a while since we've seen a new Sansa -- and no, the thoroughly ridiculous SlotMusic Player doesn't count. We'll see how it goes -- we'd love SanDisk to blow our minds with some crazy MusicGremlin-powered touchscreen player, but something tells us the company might be a little distracted with other problems right now.

IMO, the SlotMusic concept (paying for MP3s on CD-like removable media, albeit far smaller) is ridiculous when we have CDs that are higher quality and can be converted to anything, but the player (removable battery, removable media) is something I'd love to see far more of, and I think they hit the mark on those points. (a detailed screen would be nice, too).
Sansa Tap = touchscreen?
sansa tap, it's all the rage!
Any relation to Spinal Tap?
It was misspelled. They meant to trademark the "Sansa Trap." It was to build on the naming scheme they were developing, with SlotMusic originally planned to launch as the "Sansa Crap."
damn, beat me to it
OMG lol, I'm dyslexic, so at first, I missread that as "santa trap"
i'd tap that, if you know what i mean. :]
damn beat me to it,
SANDISK if your out there, you now have your tag line:
" I'd tap that "
Fools! The headline should have read "This is Sansa Tap."
Not sure about that all-too-confident anti-physical-media position we are repeating here so enthusiastically... I recall reading this last month - http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/technology/2009/02/slotmusic-peopl.html - so sandisk may actually be on to something we are regularly dismissing as irrelevant...
C'mon SanDisk, good UI, your standard features and your prices and you have a customer
