Pandigital's 10.4-inch PanTouch Clear WiFi digiframe is industry's thinnest
Pandigital just got official with its PanTouch Clear line at CES this year, but already the company's stepping things up with the industry's slimmest digiframe. The 10.4-inch PAN1000DWPCF2 was introduced at this year's PMA expo in Las Vegas, and aside from the 1,024 x 768 resolution, 2GB of internal storage space, 6-in-1 card reader, inbuilt WiFi, USB socket and support for audio / video playback, the device also ditches the traditional "rear housing" to make it just 0.33-inches thick. From what we can tell, this here frame is probably the one to snag if you're dead set on hanging one upside your wall, and the programmable on / off times enables you to leave the office knowing that your frame will go dark at the appropriate strike of the clock. Pandigital plans to toss in a dark espresso wood frame as well as white and charcoal interchangeable mats, but you'll have to wait until May to hand over your $229.99 and bring one home.

digital picture frames are pretty much the definition of shoehorning technology into a place it doesn't really need to be
You don't know what you are saying dude.
Think geek has sold out its iGala super digiframe since ages and its supply dries out as soon as it is replenished (in the middle of the so called crysis)
My firm (ok partly mine) sells what we call the Uberdigiframe which in fact is a linux 10" all in one touch screen PC with a voice controlled interface (beside the touch screen) .
Atom processor 32GB SSD, WIFI, Bluetooth, IR, Webcam, light sensor.
You can browse the web , push e-mail, receive pics and vid via e-mail, VOIP videoconference, landline speakerphone, and if you want it also reads your e-mails and podcasts or play your music via a 2.1 audio sysem (optional).
The integrated DTV-B lets you see TV programs or you can see net TV in it, or hear web radio, or the music on your PCs/NAS/ wia wifi, or yeah, other things.
We can't assemble them fast enough, we have nearly 3 months of back orders and we have stopped taking new orders.
We sell them as a modding, fom private to private because some of the software is proprietary, but I dont understand why the big boys are'nt playng this game leaving the field to us modders.
Anyway , I'm not complaining about it.
We
Does it come with the ubiquitous pre-loaded digital pictureframe virus?
I was going to ask the question!
I mean, I was going to ask the same question! :))))
Digital Picture Frame with wifi = Lets you switch all your ugly friends pictures with models if anyone interesting comes over.
(Photoshop yourself in, and imagine interesting and funny stories to tell if they ask about said photos. It's a real selling point that I feel they are hitting)
*are not hitting*
If you are old fashioned enough to display photos in a frame, then go to CVS and print out the pictures. There is no need to waste all this damn electricity.
Yea, give them a bit, this is basically what colored e-paper was made for. Agreed though serious waste of electricity.
This is the nicest frame I've seen in a while... good balance of features and looks.
10" screen
Great resolution (for a photo frame, anyway)
WiFi and USB
Multicard reader
2GB internal memory
Support for audio and video
Thin and looks good
Can be programmed to turn on and off at certain times
Can be hung on a wall
Those are all the features I've ever looked for in a frame, and this one has them all. I've held off buying one because I've never found a frame I really liked, until now. Hopefully the price will be good.
Wifi as in any rss feed?
Oops... forgot they listed the price... $230. Not bad for all that.
Hopefully, it'll be able to handle many different photo file types, large photo files, and hundreds (or even 1000+) photos. And yes, some people actually load large files and load that many photos on these digital frames (or at least try to - some frames can handle it, some can't).
The only thing I think I'd want to see on this frame, is a more narrow bezel overall. The black frame should actually be where the white border is.
Don't know why I didn't pick up on this from the beginning, but it has a touchscreen interface, as well. I also see that it will handle up to 4000 photos (maybe more with a memory card) which is more than enough. It's Bluetooth compatible (BT dongle needed, though... but not a huge issue). And it offers clock and calendar functions. This frame is looking better and better.
Apparently, it only handles JPEGs, which is a shame (it should handle RAW files, too, IMO). But it's not a total loss. I just hope it will handle large file sizes. If it does, and the interface is clean and intuitive, and the screen itself offers great color and contrast, then I'm completely sold.
what about power? I don't own one of these, but I just think hanging it will be a terrible idea with a powercord hanging down to the socket. unless you custom fit this, the only other current option would be some sort of battery, which seems even worse... (charge up the frame before you're parents come over)...
Can any one tell me about streaming? I want to stream video to Digital Frame, is it possible?
