Weight Fat Checker makes no bones about what it's here to do

Sure, this device is borrowing not a little from the look, feel and color scheme of the Wii Fit, but the Weight Fat Checker is a little more direct in its naming schemes. A handheld body fat meter unearthed somewhere in Japan, we don't know anything about its pricing or availability, but we assume we'll never probably seen one in the flesh. Regardless, we're pretty sure it'd make a fine gift for anyone you want to cross of your faves list a.s.a.p.

What's that thing it's hanging on? Something laundry-related?
Looks like they included some strawberry fruit candy to test that it works.
Its to lure the Chubbys to buy the product...
HAHAHAH!
Hi-Chew. Greatest candy known to man.

These things have been out forever... Not sure what the big deal is, maybe this looks a little fancier, but they use these in health and fitness classes all the time.
Speaking of weight fat checkers...
Whatever happened with Block's long term Wii Fit test?
"Regardless, we're pretty sure it'd make a fine gift for anyone you want to cross of your faves list a.s.a.p."
Hey Laura, you would be crossing them _off_ your faves list, not of. Just wanted to make you aware.
yeah...
I like that it is held in place by candy.
You guys (engadget) should get out of the house a little bit. They have been out for years... measure Body Mass Index (BMI). You input your height and weight on the screen, then the device sends/measures signals from one hand, out through your body, to the other hand through metal electrodes in the hand holds.
They've been on the market a lot longer than the Wii has....
yeah, i think the point is that "weight fat" is obviously an intentional ploy to try and cash in on "wii fit"?
The box cover should go on the engrish.com website.
...even though this may have been out for a while, it still deserves a good eyeroll from me. While I recognize the value of knowing one's BMI, and the convenience of knowing it quickly, could they not have given it a snappier name? I'm rather used to an object's purpose not being stated so bluntly...
These are greatly affected by your hydration level and generally aren't highly accurate. Better to get a pair of calipers and learn to use them if you want to know your body fat percentage.
Exactly what I was thinking. Or if you want a good reading, you could do an underwater BF test
WOW I have never seen so many commenters miss the point of a funny post!
Headline of the day nominee.
I have been using these for over 12 years at my gym, and to be honest this one doesn't even look like some of the higher tech ones out there these days. They also aren't all that reliable either, but do a decent job of getting in the ballpark of someone's body fat %. I do agree though that just like a gym membership, or a fitness DVD, this would get you in the dog house real quick with your significant other.
Engadget, it's called proof-reading :)
Lay "of" the spell check, and you might not want to have two different verb tenses in the same sentence...
That candy is actually super delicious, it's labeled Hi Chew where it's sold here in NY, but don't get the ones labeled as made in Korea, get the ones made in Japan (you can also tell the japanese ones by the fancier wrapping the individual pieces have). It's like a mix between taffy and starburst. They taste better and have a softer/chewier taste to them. Grape is my favorite flavor.
