We first
caught wind of SDXC back at CES, and just today Pretec
announced the world's first SDXC card. Much to our pleasure, said card was on hand at the outfit's booth at
CeBIT. Sadly, we were forced to photograph the one behind the glass bubble, as some incredibly evil individual managed to swipe the product sample from the outfit's booth last night (seriously, the Polizei are out for you!). Also on hand was a devilishly fast 666x CompactFlash card along with a mighty capacious 100GB CF card that hums along at 233x. Last, but certainly not least, was the
64GB ExpressCard SSD, which looked suspiciously like most every other ExpressCard we've ever seen. Unfortunately, these newcomers were so new that pricing information wasn't yet available, though all of the devices mentioned will be shipping this year. We'll keep you posted on further deets, but till then, feel free to meander around in the gallery below.
uhhh, that'd be 166x not 666x.
i thought it was a typo as well, but in the pic it is labeled 666x. i'll leave the funny comment that says you're a dope to someone else.
166x SD card, 666x CF card.
See Pic num9.
You're a dope.
666: number of evil. this card should be evil fast....
do those cf cards look like they are type 2? they look thicker than a regular cf to me.
This is why I wish my iPhone had a slot for such things; I would no longer be pining for an iPhone large enough to hold my entire iTunes library -- I could just expand it with a card.
Then again, they want you to buy a larger model, not upgrade. Such is the nature of wanting to make money in business, I guess.
Plenty other companies offer products with expandability.. >.>;; its usually a huge factor in my purchase decisions..
@cao_boy
The thing is, the pros of the iPhone outweigh its cons. So, I have to carry an iPod Classic aswell as my iPhone, but at least then I get better battery life. Life is full of compromises.
oooooh 666x, scary! i wouldn't want that bad karma...
Mark of the devil!!! }:o]
It is believed that the mark of the devil just LOOKS like three 6s, it isn't actually numbers.
I'm more interested in MicroSDXC, if it exists yet. One card, with adaptors, for all devices.
111
Anybody knows if it's possible to boot the OS from that Express Card SSD or is it only for expanded storage?
Oh boy, another adapter to buy.
Last I checked. CF cards were faster at a given x-speed vs an SD card rated for that same x-speed. (
E.G. A 233x CF is significantly faster than a 233x SD card.
Can we please start reporting speeds in MB/s not this stupid x times some arbitrary number BS.
64gb? they forgot to photoshop the 6 on there
6!.. 6! 6! The number of the beast...
