Samsung NX Series camera gets the hands-off treatment

Samsung has already offered up plenty of press shots of its new NX Series "hybrid" camera, but we're guessing most folks are still a bit more interested in some up-close, unpolished shots of the not-quite-compact, even if it is being kept just out of the reach of the teeming masses at PMA. In case this one slipped past your radar, the big news here is the camera's use of an APS-C sized image sensor, which is normally only found on full-size DSLRs, and should result in some better than usual shots from a camera this size. Better still, that means you'll also still be able to attach at least a few different lenses to the camera, which you can catch a glimpse of by hitting up the links below.

Beautiful...
So wait...if it uses an APS-C, and has removable lenses...doesn't that mean it IS an SLR? What makes it a "hybrid?"
I'm confuuuuused
Although those are features commonly associated with such cameras, it's not what makes them SLRs. Single Lens Reflex refers to the unique thru-the-lens optical viewfinder system. That's what distinguishes them from other cameras with the formentioned features, including rangefinders and this new breed of pure Live View camera.
These are EVIL cameras not SLR, totally different beast.
EVIL = Electronic Viewfinder Interchangeable Lens
SLR = Single Lens Reflex
No mirror box. No optical view-finder. Casual shooters don't value these things anyway, and even enthusiast shooters (That's the group I'm going to place myself in) can appreciate a smaller cam like this for times when a true dSLR is a bit big, and if it will use my K-Mount lenses and take video competitive with that from consumer-level HD cams...count me in. Not to replace my Pentax dSLR, but to complement it.
There is no way it could take existing SLR lenses. Not without an adapter anyways.
One of the nifty things of having such a short mounting distance though is that in theory you could adapt many different systems. At least mechanically.
Impressed by a Samsung camera... stranger things have happened. Would like to see some sample shots first, but it at least looks pretty nifty.
Sweet, I wish Canon or Nikon would take the hint and build one too.
There's been talk out of at least one of those two about an APS based micro 4/3 competitor, so there will be eventually. I'm far more interested by Pentax, though an APS-C sensor in a Canon G11 would be interesting. Unfortunately, they'd probably cripple it with no RAW.
Nice Look
If this is priced right I see it flying off the shelves.
looks like an Olympus 25mm pancake on the front of that body...
Samsung made new lens with APC-S sensor. Wonderful try this hybrid camera. it has no mirror box, so it's small and thin size.
It's really helpful to users considering choice between DSRL and compact camera. Good spec and size.
I 'd like to get more information these NX series.
