We've spotted ASUS' D200 (or Eee Station PC NAS, as it's apparently now known) once before, but we took the opportunity here at CeBIT to shove our camera all up in the touchscreen in order to give you, the prospective buyer, a look at what this here Atom-based NAS has to offer. The specs on this thing read like a bona fide PC: 1.6GHz Atom CPU, 2GB of DDR2 RAM, room for two 3.5-inch SATA II drives, a 3.5-inch touch panel, 802.11n WiFi, DVD-RW slot-loading optical drive, four gigabit Ethernet ports, USB / DVI sockets and a built-in three-cell Li-ion battery to give you 15 minutes of emergency time should your power fail. Our experience with the touchscreen was less than amazing, with the edges seeming to be noticeably less responsive than the middle. Sure, we don't expect you'll be touching your NAS all that often, but hey, there it is. Visually, it was as sharp as it needed to be, and the whole unit just screamed sexy. Mash play above to check out the menus, or dive in below if still photography is what floats your boat.
What's the point in this? It's got quite a bit more hardware than a 2 drive NAS device needs, what does it get used for? And of course, the most important thing they've managed to miss is that if you're considering buying a dedicated NAS device, you probably need more space that 2 drives worth.
Oh man, I want one of these so bad! Though it'd be needed with a giant makeover in my cablework at home before I could have in the living room instead of the cottage where the ISP-box is. Ah the effort...
Now that we've thrown 'em off the trail, use the form below to get in touch with the people at Engadget. Please fill in all of the required fields because they're required.
In the words of a great thinker: very nice, how much?

Looks interesting. Pricing information would be helpful and I hope they release a version with more hard drive bays in it.
Yeah, all that for just 2 drives?
i'll be touching my pc nas every day
Are those specs reeeeally necessary?
It's amateur hour at the video production office of Engadget...
Does anyone else cringe when watching people try to use a touchscreen with their thumb or is just me and my strange foibles?
This thing is pretty crazy. Nas, wireless router, dvd ripper/burner, UPS. Pretty sweet all in one.
screen is responsive like a dead horse.. lol :D
(sorry if you lost your horse recently..)
I doubt there are any engadget readers that have a horse, unless its robotic. I respect your thoughtfulness though.
Thats pretty cool

What a piece of crap touchscreen.
I'm almost embarrassed for that touchscreen.
so when and how much?
