Onkyo rolls out Sotec-branded E702A9 media PC

Looking for something a bit more all-in-one than Onkyo's HDC-1L nettop / HTPC? Then you may want to consider the company's new Sotec-branded E702A9 media PC, which keeps things relatively inconspicuous while packing some decent specs all around. That includes a 1080p 21.5-inch display, a Core 2 Duo E7400 processor, 2GB of RAM, a 500GB hard drive, a 4x Blu-ray drive, a built-in TV tuner, an included iPod dock, and some seemingly slightly better than usual 8W speakers. No word on a release 'round here just yet, but folks in Japan can apparently pick one up now for ¥179,000, or just over $1,800.

Why don't just buy a real imac for that money?
True. It would be the best option, in term of quality/performance
cause blu-ray isnt a bag of hurt for everyone.
@Zomgrotfl;
+1; Well played.
I wouldn't base my computer-buying decision on what has or has no blue ray alone. That's like saying I'm choosing a Chevy over a BMW because the Chevy comes with built-in XM radio. Oh well, if I was really bent out of shape wanting Blue Ray I'd get me one of these: http://www.amexdigital.com/Press_Release-E_Portable%20Blu-ray%20Super%20Multi%20Drive.htm
I'm certain Apple is working on a Blue Ray drive of their own. As with other things, they take longer to release some stuff out to make sure it works as well as they want to. After all, Apple sits on Blue Ray's Board of Directors:

Regardless, I chose my computers based on the OS first. Everything else comes second.
For 16 years I chose Windows and built my own boxes.
In 2006 I switched to Mac OS X and I couldn't be happier. Will never go back to Windows.
@Foxkenji
Wow, that's funny because I thought my Beamer had XM and more, better options.
Tv tuner , 1080p n bluray !! Blow apple outta the water!!!!!
Speaking of all-in-ones, has anyone heard anything else about Lenovo's A-series IdeaCenter?
Yeah, what did happen to that gorgeous render?
Before the photo was taken:
-"Hmmm.... Isn't there something missin'?
-"Well, what do you mean?"
-"Aha! Now I know" *puts iPod touch in front of computer*
Oops didn't read the article.

Talking about that, I find it funny how they have the exact same color scheme for the keyboard and mouse as Apple does...
These guys should just stick to making speakers.. Honestly..
Can you elaborate?
What do you mean elaborate? Onkyo is known for making home theater speakers. not some half assed all in one desktops
its a mix look of alienware and imac
Hey, that is one damn good computer, however, considering that just a few days ago iMacs were only $1, 500 , it's a tad too expensive for what's it's offering.
They are more expensive than that in Japan.
No way. The iMac is still overpriced, you know. It "only" offers a bigger screen, better processor, double the RAM, bigger HDD and (debatably) a better OS, (debatably) better design and definitely a better build quality. The iMac for the same price as that thing above has an even faster processor and much better graphics card. But you know, it's very overpriced anyway...
[/sarcasm]
heh, I choose my dear OS X any day. Not going back to Windaz.
I agree that iMacs are very, very, overpriced, which in turn makes this overpriced.
I use XP SP3, Ubuntu, and would like a Blu-Ray drive, so you know, this thing's looking pretty good.
Am I the only one who thinks the Blu-Ray drive in this is a little... awkward? I mean, it makes sense in a desktop where you can output to a larger screen and create a media center sort of appeal, but how many all-in-one users are going to be watching Blu-Ray discs on a screen that size? Don't get me wrong, 21 inches is a nice screen, but it's just not the ideal screen to kick back for the evening and watch hi-def material on.
@bebop
A starter imac with a 640gb hd upgrade costs ¥136,990.00.
That's $1,394.09 in our money
well this will be a huge space saver for those japanese who live in those P.O. boxes sorta thing. ( saw it on tv )
This actually looks pretty cool..
