RTEV begins taking orders for Wheego Whip electric car
If you're the type of Earth-loving individual who ain't got nowhere to go in a hurry, RTEV's ready and willing to take your order a brand new Wheego Whip. The company's first street electric LSV (low speed vehicle) will begin shipping to early adopters in May, and it's primed to carry up to two individuals and a few empty cola bottles anywhere you need to go -- so long as there's an AC outlet waiting at Point B. It's retailing for under $19,000 and includes an MP3 stereo system, remote keyless entry, air conditioning and a sweet 10 percent Federal Tax credit. Of note, RTEV has plans to eventually produce a higher speed model of this very car, and there's a trade-in program available (with terms that aren't half bad) for those interested. For all the fine print, give that read link a tap.

Dayem.. those wheels are ripped off from RX8.. :S
This thing looks like a blatant SmartCar ripoff. How the crap are they getting away with that?
All made possible, thanks to Clean Coal technology!
HATE those commercials lol
Engadget...a $20,000 electric car that goes 40mph has every American motorist salivating, to be sure...
...but how about Palm Pre pricing/release date please. Focus!
Dude, really? you think that just because there are things that people want more makes it so they cant report advances in tech that arent as important? Engadget isn't magic, they can't just get a price/release date, they follow the same press releases you could if you cared enough to. WHile they occasionaly get insider interviews, that doesnt mean they can pull release dates out of the air when Palm hasn't made one yet. Grow up, get a life, and stop obsessing.
@ jon: Overeaction much?
I
it looks like a smartcar.
LOL, a bad copy of the Smart ...
If they cant even use their own design, how should they be able to build a whole car that works for more than one year?
Something's missing...unless the Fischer Price sticker is on the other side.
These things would sell like hotcakes if their cost was commiserate with their functionality.
These people are insane! $19,000.00 for a vehicle with about 1/4 the functionality of a real car. I don't want or need 0 - 60 MPH in 5 seconds or 2,000 pounds of safety equipment. I can buy a real nice, brand new, Nissan Versa for about $5,000 less that will go faster and further than this toy. First and foremost, it's got to make economic sense. Now, if they were selling these things for $9,000, then they will undercut a fully functioning car.
Commensurate. The word you are looking for is "commensurate"
Opps. Thanks Sliv.
Ghost ride the whip!!
that's a Smart KIRF.
i don't know what Smart's lawyers are doing
Laughing?
What they forgot to tell you is that when you just finished that basketball game and when you are all sweaty, you wont make the 10.4 mile drive back to your apartment(which just so happens to have solar panels) because you turned on the AC and you were blasting 50 Cent on those Bose rip-offs.
what?! an mp3 stereo system?! no way...
I think someone should race the aygo with the wheego and see which one wins.. i think the Toyota Aygo will!. lol
