Nokia outs 5730 and 5330 XpressMusic and 5030 XpressRadio handsets as expected
Yup, All About Phones nailed it as Nokia just announced its 5730 XpressMusic QWERTY, 5330 XpressMusic slider, and lowly 5030 XpressRadio candybar bringing up the tail. The trio of handsets spread across different price-points should make access to the Nokia Music Store (now available in 15 countries) that much easier. The top-end 5730 (available Q3, €280) is Nokia's first QWERTY device optimized for both music and gaming with dedicated audio and N-Gage keys. The 5330 slider (Q3, €260) steps up the design with illumination effects while adding a 3.5-mm jack and 26-hours of audio. The 5030 XpressRadio (Q2, €40) is Nokia's first with an internal FM radio antenna thereby eliminating the need for a headset or external speakers. With that as its major selling point, you've probably already guessed that it's heading to emerging markets.

I really love the font of the keys from the 5730!
Kwikit @ Mar 11th 2009 7:44AM

Proof once again that iphone, has revolutionized smartphone industry. In just 1.5 years has already killed motorola, sony, n now nokia is on the chopping block. Palm might be next if pre doesnt sell 1 million in first week. I was right when i said nokia should stick to lowend cells, just look at their release of new xpress music phones,,,Now that is pathetic,,,keep nokia on other side of pond please, dont bring usa cell technology down with you, the plague...ive spoken n silenced everyone

Shank, you must be using your iPhon(y) to desperately enter these recycled jibs.
Wait. You can't spell anyway.
AttractedRhyme @ Mar 11th 2009 5:44AM
these are horrible looking phones
feraligatr8 @ Mar 11th 2009 5:54AM
5730 looks so cool, I want one. the others look ugly.
Tohe @ Mar 11th 2009 5:55AM
If I were Hansel or Gretel I'd eat them up : )
BFish @ Mar 11th 2009 6:04AM
How ugly can they get ?
GB @ Mar 11th 2009 6:13AM
Why so negative? I mean, the 5030 is pretty ugly, but it's supposed to be kind of an oldschool phone, which probably can't do all these fancy things, but can do the important thins like making phone calls and write textmessages, right? so i think the design is appropriate. And the 5330 at least has a shape that is not really common.
giuliop @ Mar 11th 2009 6:50AM
No uglier than Ballmer, that's for sure.
Tohe @ Mar 11th 2009 9:46AM
Something tells me that Ballmer would be fun in the sack, have you seen him bang at stuff like a mad gorilla?
Uncontrol @ Mar 11th 2009 6:08AM
this level of design in the year 2009 is just really unacceptable
can we start taking some cues from the japanese on phone design?
Kwikit @ Mar 11th 2009 7:49AM
I'm in complete agreement with your first statement, but what are you refering to with Japanese designed? Japanese industrial design in general or something else?
Shinigami @ Mar 11th 2009 6:08AM
Hi guys at Engadget, thanks for the news, a little fix:
"The Nokia 5330 XpressMusic is expected to be available in the third quarter of 2009 for an estimated retail price of 160 EUR."
From read link. Not 260 eur but 160 eur
William Lau @ Mar 11th 2009 6:19AM
I suppose you really need to see it in person as from what I've learned in the past, photos don't do any phone justice. I'm no fan of the budget handset myself. Samsung, LG, Moto and SE will probably do the same thing in recession and release low end budget phones which serve more of a use to casual cellphone users and those (which are the majority probably) who can't afford high end do it all smartphones. That being said, the 5330 slider really does look quite the part and I like the new keys, very glitzy. At GSMArena, yu can see the white variant and it looks pretty ood.
Uncontrol @ Mar 11th 2009 6:24AM
i've never seen any piece of electronics that looks better in person than it does in photos
the razr was a good one for this

OMG
Nokia's phones looks just get worse and worse, wtf.
Why can they not change that interface font? that bastard of a font has been around for the better part of a decade...YUCK. thier interace designs are stuck waaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyy back in the days of b/w screens.
Could it be that they are losing marketshare for:
a- ugly phones?
b- ugly interace/os?
c- tons of features on an ugly interface/phone/os?
i Attended the joystiq meetup here in nyc, and it was the first time- and the last time- that i would ever make it to a nokia table. what a waste. besides the guy next to me taking pics of the HOT girl with the striped shirt and the well rounded boobies (accentuated by the striped shirt) behind the nokia table, it was a truly forgettable experience. Nokia is the true meaning of weaksauce.
oh, did i mention that the nokia girl was hot?
mko @ Mar 11th 2009 11:58AM
On some markets people care about other elements, like functionality, price or familiarity of the os.
Game_playa @ Mar 11th 2009 3:30PM
The 5730 looks pretty good to me
