Just in case the HDGuru didn't carry enough credibility for you, Panasonic has finally issued a press release with prices and shipping months for most of its
2009 VIERA brand lineup. We've taken a peek, and everything appears to
line up with the leaked figures, including that slim wireless HD equipped Z1 and its $5,999 pricetag, while only copping to a summer ship date. The rest of the lineup proceeds downward in pricing and features from there, the wall-busting details are but a mere click of the read link away.

$1800 for the TC-P50S1 is a little more than I want to spend at this moment. I might get the last year model (TH-50PZ85U) instead.

I checked out Panasonics new equipment at CES. Not much at Panasonic's booth really caught my attention visually (other than one asian booth babe). They had a lot of new technology improvements but the picture quality still didn't compete with the older Pioneer Kuros. I really hope by next CES they have something new that can at least compete with the old 9G Kuro although my real hope is they have something better, I doubt it since their stuff this year wasn't on the same playing field.

The TH-50PZ85U is $1,299 at Fry's. The 46PZ80U is $999. You can find more Viera deals here: http://www.techdealdigger.com/search/viera-deals-sales

Plasma is much better than any LCD. Now is a great time to buy a plasma! Panasonic Rocks!

No way these are going to sell in large numbers if the economy doesn't pick up in a hurry. I'm guessing by the holiday season these will be a few hundred under MSRP.

It's impossible to figure out the differences between the lines. Plus, some of the G/S/X/etc lines contain LCDs, and then there's the numbers... G10? S14? What do they denote? They should have followed samsung's example and made the differentiation easy to understand.
In 2007/2008, Panasonic published a feature matrix for it's different lines which helped SO much. They need to do this ASAP or lose even more people to LCD, especially those who were pioneer fans.
