What's this little gem? According to a confidential / potentially dubious
Rogers document landed by
CrackBerry, it might be the
BlackBerry 9900 -- or Pluto for you codename-loving types. Interestingly enough, this devices happens to look just like a Storm / Bold / 8900 Franken-Berry that we first
caught wind of in October, packing a full QWERTY and a
SurePress touchscreen like the one found in the Storm. We can't say for sure this is anything more than a clever Photoshop -- and that little "see page 99" bit on the bottom seems a bit too convenient of a number for our tastes. The trackball's noticeably absent from the four main navigation buttons, so we're already getting a little afraid of having to retain our BrickBreaker skills, but if any of you RIM insiders want to send over photos, video, or even the device itself before the "Late Q3 2009" presumed release timeframe, we'd be mighty glad to be proven wrong.
Update: Like they say, when it rains, it pours.
CrackBerry just posted another purported shot, but the possibility of this being real is highly unlikely. Apparently, the mic hole in the original pic is a clear sign that this is just a 'shopped 8800 -- and now in this latest "leaked shot," it's gone. So, chalk another one up for those crazy jokesters that have a little too much time on their hands, because it looks like this one was a bit too good to be true.
[Thanks,
Boy Genius]
Dear RIM,
The trackball puts the crack into Blackberry.
Sincerely,
Fellow Waterloo resident
eh. id be willing to forgo the trackball for a touch screen with the requirement that it NOT FUCKING CLICK. seriously, if this "leaked device" has a keyboard, then why would you want this to click?!
Apparently you never used a Pearl because that trackball was terrible. I'll take my Storms sure press screen any day of the week over that crap.
im a fraud investigator, full time, and one factor you consider when looking at documents with numbers is this:
When someone is trying to randomly come up with numbers, they tend to repeate themselves...its a habit of all humans and the fact that 9 is present so often, then page 99 would lead, on a whim, to think this is some kind of tom foolery
now, thats just from using one theory about random human number generation tho
Of course it's always blurry.
i assume you and mr. blurrycam have met, then?
When it has a touchscreen, it could be that a trackball may be unnecessary. But, as mentioned 99 is too obvious of a number to pick. Let's hope this is real though for the sake of crackberry fans .
Look at how the "99XX" isn't even aligned with the word "BlackBerry" So FAKE!!!!
RIM are running out of numbers!
Shopped.
Purchased.
Dropped in toilet.
I still want a Bold! :(
I'm going to say fake, but for as long as I've had my 8830 I've pretty much thought it would be killer (and the logical next step) to take that form (8830, Curve, Bold etc) and simply add a touchscreen, in addition to the trackball. The trackball is an excellent input method by itself, but a touchscreen (especially multitouch) can do certain things better. Why not give people both options? I think Palm made an excellent decision including a trackball. Give people options and let them figure out the way they want to interface with the device that suits them.
Wait, what? What palm product has a trackball on it?
The trackball on the G1 was a good addition, IMO
That's not a palm product
the "ball" on the palm pre is a button, not a trackball.
I'm intrigued by the design anyways, I don't want a full touchscreen phone and love the hybrid idea.
But I'm going with FAKE on this.
"Blackberry" --> "BlackBerry"
It's coming to At&T
Now THIS is how SurePress should be used. I've used it and it sucks for the keyboard, and while I still prefer the G1's and iPhone 3G's screen for this, it wasn't that bad for just navigating. While I would prefer for this phone (if it's real) to have a normal screen, SurePress isn't that bad of an idea for THIS device. It was horrible on the Storm, though.
It looks like any other BlackBerry to me.
...that's what she said?
so not funny.
It's not supposed to be funny, haven't you noticed that all their phones look EXACTLY the same? I think that's sad.
I don't think Nerd was commenting on your post. Hashbrown tried to make a joke quoted from the TV show 'The Office' and it was not funny.
But anyways, yes all Blackberries look pretty similar to each other just different sizes, that's their signature styling. Just like how all products like Ipods, cars, clothes, and etc. have their own brand distinction. If you are not into Blackberries you would not know the difference, just like I how cannot tell the difference between Macbooks, Hummers, and certain clothing brands.
wow,i thought it said "the bb puto".,lol,,.,.,mediocre at best .,weak, guaranteed to tank here in usa,we have tooo many options.
thought it read :the bb puto",,,lol!!!
looks like every other Blackberry. that is:
Not innovative. Not going to buy.
True..... but efficient.
This would be awesome. The biggest problem with the clicking touchscreen was typing, because it took forever for it to "un-click" but with this, you get a clicking touchscreen, and you can type quickly and comfortably.
hopefully it comes to sprint with a sailor Pluto wallpaper then sky would be the limit to what i would pay for such a cool thing. escpeially if had sailor Pluto ring tones to go along with it
