ive owned n95.,i ebayd that n got iphone 3g on july 071108. That phone had mediocre browser,weak email client.,n music n widescreen video player was ages behind iphone. I tried to be different n not stick to iphone , but i got burned .

Of course I bought one. I have several S60 devices. Its $400 because its unlocked. That is actually cheap for a mid-tier unlocked phone.

Do u know what Resolution means?
I only ask because the iPhone's screen has nearly half this phone's screen resolution.
it plays dvd rips just fine, mine are encoded to about 900kbps-1mbps and they are smooth.
also, shank you are clearly a dumb fanboy. tell me how the 5800 is inferior to the iphone's resolution? are you in kindergarten and dont know how to count? please tell me how 360x640 is less than the iphone's 320x480? seriously...its time for you to eat your shit and learn how to count fanboy.

This phone has a resolution of 640x360 which is not double the resolution of the iPhones 480x320 even though it is higher..
I wouldn't get this phone or an iPhone tbh...
Well neither would I. Was just asking out of curiosity.
640x320 means it plays DVDrips at full quality, which is as high a resolution as I would need from a phone. Any more pixels would need a bigger screen to benefit the web browsing (e.g. Touch HD)
I'm waiting out for the Tegra Android, the G3, or the Archos Android.
As far as the iPhone, no thanks. Great gaming device, bad phone. I'd rather get a used PSP online.

Actually movies do play great on most N-series devices.

- This phone has almost twice the resolution of an iPhone/iPod touch. It plays DVDrips at full quality.
- My Nokia E65 which I bought a couple of months before the iPhone was launched, has a light sensor.

not that i didn't like the iphone when i had it (i have a G1 now, and yes I purposely traded the iphone for it), but what the fuck? that bullshit ass blackberry pearl i had had an ambient light sensor. Just because we love apple products, doesn't mean we have to suck their balls when it comes to every aspect of every product.
Shank, even my old Nokia N80 has ambient light sensor (they use front camera for that) and so does Nokia 5800 XpressMusic. It has more features than iPhone and it is cheaper. Only 14€/month with cheapest contract here in Finland but obviously, buying it without a contract is the best way.

sure it does. you can use T9. which is great because you only have a choice of 9keys and not 26... much faster in my experience.

i will for my wife and i'll even drop double that for n97. because like my brother in law says (mind you an iPhone freak) "iphone is a good device but a horrible phonem if you have 2 iphones in a conversation there's a 50% chance the call is gonna drop". Now you tell why would i drop $100 plus the crazy plan for a cellphone that is a horrible phone ???
See fruitphone is the first half decent phone that hit US and that's why people are so obsessed with it, but those people never used a really good phone such as this one.

This phone's VGA screen plays DVDrips at full quality, unlike the iPhone/iPod touch that cuts the resolution to half to fit their HVGA screen.

Let me set u straight. we all know there is only 1 cell phone that can truly replace the ipod touch. My first phone was a nokia back in 1995. Truth is nokia innovation is hurting,yes they sell $40 handsets for people on fixed income. in order to be a top music phone u must be able to "truly" replace ipod touch. Iphone is only phone that can do that..,now u have no content,so im sure u agree.

I love how ppl mention buying the iphone for $99 or $299. What they always forget to mention is that comes with contracts. If you really want to talk about prices then compare the original iphone 3g prices ($799) to the 5800's $399.

This phone's browser is based on the SAME WebKit rendering engine as the iPhone's Safari, and one up's it by having built-in support for both Java and Flash objects.
That means you can watch a Youtube video in the browser as if you were on your desktop, directly on the page instead of in a separate, specially -made software app. The same for Java objects.
You CAN'T do that on the iPhone/iPhone 3G, all you'll see are blank spaces...
And you even have an alternative, Opera Mini 4.02 is fully touch-enabled for the 5800 XM.
The 5800 XM has an accelerometer, and it also has an ambient light sensor (look closely next to the front-faced videocall camera (another absentee in the iPhone "3G").
The 5800 XM has a dedicated sound processing chip, capable of true stereo channel widening, and good for a day and a half of continuous playback.
The 5800 XM has Video-Out capability (with cables included). That means the 640x480@30fps video it captures (that's near DVD-quality, if you don't know...), as well as the phone's interface, can be seen in ANY television set.
Why would the 5800XM need 30-pin integration, when it supports REAL Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP ? And USB 2.0. And a MicroSDHC card slot. ;)
Because, you know, the iPhone spends so much time charging because battery life SUCKS, unlike the user-replaceable 5800 XM's battery, which will easily last you 2 days even under fairly intense WiFi/GPS/Bluetooth, standard phone-apps usage.
All this in 109 gr (3.84 oz).
Oh, and over here the 5800 XM (under contract) can be had... for FREE.

Actually s60 devices have been able to do all the things you are saying since 02 when I bought my first s60 phone. S60 is Nokia's smartphone platform. They have had light sensors and full html and accelerometer's. I just don't think you know the history of your phones. And they have UPnP. Which is alot more popular than your ipod docking stations Actually alot of things have UpnP that you have probably never thought about. Your Xbox360 has it. So does the PS3. And most all of this has been in Nokia phones since 02-03. That was years ahead of your ipod. Funny how you don't seem to mention that. As for intergrating with my car stereo funny i have been doing that with my N81 for almost 2 years now. Just to let you know i traded my ipod touch for this phone. Mostly because this can multi task .... that's something your ipod can't do.
