Macbook with Apple logo-turned-LCD now on eBay, naturally
Not that we can really blame the guy or anything, but don't think that the selling of this machine at this point in the history of mankind is any sort of coincidence. Literally two days after we took a glance at this very Macbook -- which had its Apple logo replaced with a bona fide, completely functional LCD -- it's up for auction at eBay. We know, the economy's a little rough right now, so we'll chalk this one up to a creature of the entrepreneurial spirit and move on. But yes, you should be prepared to pay top dollar (or learn how to mod) if you're dead set on being its next owner.

second, Sam healer smells.
Its a nice mod but what exactly would anyone need that for. And why exactly am I going to buy a mac that some one modded when I can just buy a new one and not care about an additional small logo sized LCD.
So you can tell the time when your lcd's closed and you've got an intense (insert ball/maze game here) session going on your phone.
sorta cool!

O BLARG?
Awesome! Now you can whore even MORE attention when you're sitting in a pretentious coffee shop.
I'd leave it playing 2girls1cup all day
BMX pain Olympics FTW!
just go on thatsphucked.com, you'll be plenty of ideas;
Does this idiot not know how to clean a laptop screen before taking ebay shots?
Does this Evan not know how to clean a comment before posting on the almighty Engadget?
It just goes to show you can't be too careful
I'll stick with my Thinkpad, thanks.
This was a cool mod, but I don't imagine it'd be that hard to duplicate. Get a small, cheap USB monitor, strip out the backlight (the Apple logo already uses the LCD backlight, should be bright enough and make sure it fits), open up the case and slap it in. The hard part would be the USB plug, but I assume there's an unused port on the motherboard you could solder to.
It takes a braver man than me to do it though. Kudos to this guy for actually doing it, and for realising that most don't, and so putting his bravery on eBay.
hey...if you can use his mod to drive traffic to your site, he can capitalize on that and use it how he likes. :)
But thats because I turned up the voltage to her nipples a little too high.
God damn it that was supposed to be a reply. Now its lost its intended effect and turned in to something much worse.
I feal your pain. It happened to me too. I blame the IE6 I'm forced to use at work.
If you only wanted it to do stuff when you can actually see it, couldn't you just replace the cloudy apple with a clear one and make it so you could see the display in reverse?
but then everyone would know what you're watching.
Vince wanks in public apparently.
I don't think you understand how the screen works...
I am a PC man, but i still think that mod is nice!
Mac's are PC's. They just come with an OS of Apple's choice, looks sleek and cost a little more.
Could you use it to display something useful, like stats or stock quotes? Even Vista could do that, I believe...
Looks pretty sweet.
Engadget please pick this up, if the jizzy stuff still moves!
I hope it sells for less than he payed for it. That would be sweet irony. Such a foolish mod, easy to replicate, and on an apple.
It's pointless but looks nice....
...so expect Apple to be making it a default feature of the Macbook sometime soon.
holy god the thing is going for as much as my brand new macbook did (with a student discount). Not that i was in the market for this but good god.
Still, if he made the 'logo' bigger, it'd be a sweet secondary screen to drag your windows to and show them to friends.
Too bad it's a Mac :(
