Broadcom has seen quite a few legal victories in its
ongoing battle with Qualcomm, but it was dealt a bit of a setback on Friday when U.S. District Court Judge William Hayes shot down one of its most recent lawsuits. Apparently, Broadcom wasn't quite specific enough about the patents it was suing over this time around, which is something Qualcomm has been complaining about as far back as November, saying at that time that Broadcam has failed "to specify a single device, a single patent, a single license, or a single sale." All is not lost for Broadcom, however, as it just so happens to have a separate lawsuit against Qualcomm pending at the very same district court. Not surprisingly, Broadcom also says that intends to refile the rejected lawsuit "within two weeks," while Qualcomm apparently plans to continue banging its head against a wall.
sorry, what did you say? i was too busy looking at your avatar.
Broadcom is just being indignant.
embiggened chip manufactures such as Broadcom and Quallcomm are naturally cromulant with law suits...
It seems like the only people making money in this recession/depression is lawyers.
And the Lawyers... But that's typically from tax dollars ;-)
err.. Judges =)
You should change that logo from "Connecting Everything" to "Suing Everyone".
I kinda like how it is now. All emphasized and shit.
"Broadcom
Connecting fucking EVERYTHING"
Dammit I was going to say that
Does that mean we finally get to see phones arriving here sooner?
Qualcomm sucks ass! If it isn't one lawsuit, it's another. Either Qualcomm is suing someone, or someone is suing them. QC is full of corporate penny pinching asshats. Anything that Qualcomm puts their mark on becomes crippleware, like for instance LG and Samsung phones. I used to love LG's until QC started crippling the devices and putting excessive limits on phone functions. BREW OS is for the dogs, and does not allow opensource. You must pay QC major royalties before you can even think about developing software fot this OS. When you are done developing software, QC will run over it and cripple the functionality of it.
Broadcom has already won a couple lawsuits against QC. This is only a (minor) setback. And it's not like QC would go bankrupt. Suckers make way more than their fair share from the items they market. It's all corporate greed.
Copyright this..lawsuit that..infringement this.. cripes can't these dipshits just get along and settle for something?
