Poll: What do you want most from iPhone 3.0 besides copy and paste?
We've been hearing even more chatter today about copy and paste coming to iPhone 3.0 at tomorrow's event, and that got us thinking: man, is that ever weak. Seriously, if Apple is really trying to "get up to speed with the Pre" as claimed by Kevin Rose, it'd better bring some actual firepower to the table, not basic functionality we should be taking for granted. So, we put it to you: what's the one thing you most want from iPhone 3.0 besides copy and paste? Be honest!

like any real american poll i need the ability to vote more than once
And a 'super-size' option.
Hopefully they'd make it so ALL APPS have a keyboard that transfers from landscape to portrait.
I honestly don't miss Copy/Paste but it would be nice.
I desperatly want FLASH and considering Adobe was suppossed to be working on it, it is probably coming soon.
Lets just hope DEV Team unlocks it two days later.
I know a guy who works for ACORN he will have illegal immigrants vote however you want ($3 per head).
MOAR FLASH PLAYER FOAR EVERYWUN!
Didn't see the "All the above" option
You need the ability to move more than once because MANY of these features have been on phones for years.
I chose flash...
Or the ability to add another option.
Like Cut-and-paste
I see no immediate reason why all those options should not be included in the update. Although, there is also no reason why apple would require a proprietary chip for their new shuffles headphones (most ridiculous update to the iPod name, hands down.) The more i think about it the more obvious it is that apple is not trying to please the small population of its buyers that read tech blogs, and really can you blame them? Its not as though the population at mass is up in arms about a lack of copy/paste, as they're too busy with their zippo lighter app. Apple will continue to do what they have been doing as of late, and do what is financially beneficial to them: Let adobe putter away with flash, while we work on more boring hardware updates. (no redesigned mini... c'mon!)
@Flashpoint, i cant help think that you have encoded a message in your comment, those caps seem too well placed...
Yeah, how aboutan "all of the above" option!!!!!!!!!
You sir get my vote for best comment of the year
@Wii60
Couldn't be bothered to read the title of the article, could we?
Pr0n and lots of it!
Wait so where is Engadget going to be? Like if MacWorld is closed, then where are they going to find out about this iPhone 3.0. And can't they just take a live video or something instead of writing?
i want it to be able to create worm holes , and alternate dimensions.
where is the option for open link in new tab? i still have not found a way to do that
@Hooper
Come on guys! This is a Gadget blog, I should be able to joke about cut and paste v copy and paste and have you get it.
A2DP
for a world without wires. It's the one thing keeping me from buying an iphone.
To explain, I have this tendency to break cord, so i got bluetooth heaphones, which work great with my computer and friend's music phones. However, not only does the iphone not support A2dp, but it also wont let you use 3'r party attachments that plug into the ipod-data port thing.
Matthew, I use a bluetooth dongle with the iPhone.
amart: no reason why apple would require a proprietary chip for their new shuffles headphones
Wouldn't it be the reason that the chip controls the features of the Shuffle?
The Shuffle has no controls, the controls are on the headphones cord.
Do you think there is some way that controls on a cord can work without an IC of some sort? Magic perhaps? Maybe you pray to some deity and your tracks and volume change miraculously?
Why the heck does everyone need background processing in the iPhone? 99% of you can only do one thing at a time and probably not all that well, either. I could see if it had some huge battery power reserve, but the thin little iPhone will just be using more power and running the battery down faster than it already does.
What are all these apps that everyone wants running in the background?
I want Apple to scrap that project.
Good one !
BTW, where's SMS Forwarding, Engadget?!!?
A $20 Nokia phone has that! Sorry, the iPhone is special...
The Non apple Fanboys comment section
I agree with you that crapple should scrap the project
hands down to NOKIA
@Jash. I'm with you. Why the hell doesn't the iPhone have SMS forwarding?
Personally I want a details screen for each text, that has the time it was received (why does the iPhone decide that I don't always want to see this, I haven't figured out exactly when it decides to insert a time stamp), and options to forward and delete.
I agree. Apple shouldn't have a need to update the iPhone at the moment.
I don't think anyone will make any use out of "copy and paste" and "flash" support. It's simply a waste of time.
What people should be interested in is a new iPhone redesign. Once memory is upgraded and the casing is touched up for better form-factor, people can sell their old iPhones and pay for a new one if they want to keep up with today's trends.
transparent photovalic cells on the screen for easy self-sustainable usage! :)
Right, 'cus a solar cell that size could really power GPS, 3G, and everything else. It would take multiple hours of good sunlight to power the iPhone for one hour. Especially while it's in your pocket/purse. A lot of unnecessary complication for very little benefit.
If it's good enough for the DS... In the spirit of amusement, I heartily agree. Although, I'll also take the photovoltaic handbag to actually charge the thing.
Hey, how come no-ones done that? An handbag made of photovoltaic cells with micro/mini USB ports AND yer standard iPod/iPhone plug inside?!!! Love ittt.
an anti-suck patch
I couldn't help but notice that my windows mobile phone seems to do all of that, and it's way older than the iPhone....
YUPIII
I think proprietary headphones is going to pull this one out... that's a sweet deal no matter how you cut the pie!
I want an apple voice authorization chip that requires a steve jobs voice app (costing a mere $99.99) to unlock your phone
I want pancakes. No, really.
12.1 mega pixel camera with xenon flash with iphoto built
and extra cowbell
You can have to much cowbell, it's the truth!
Are you sure that you just don't want a touch screen phone built into your SLR?
How about manual focusing with inter-changeable lens, full-frame sensor and a flash sync port for the iPhone?
BlueTooth for sure!
push notifications. better stability. MMS would be a plus since it's a PITA trying to explain to someone how to email pics.
Push notification are great for IM like client, and that, I believe will totally make text messaging a thing of past. However, Pandora and Stitcher are those kind of apps I want to be able to run in the background. May be Apple can set some restriction on the number of background apps that can be run and the processor resource they can draw, but they are seriously needed.
I want to be able to call Steve Jobs. No wait, hes on "sick leave".
Or so they say.
Convenient that he got sick when Apple ideas are running on the low/crappy side...
http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/16/apple-confirms-presence-of-proprietary-chip-in-shuffle-headphone/
Background apps. On screen notifications. More control over auto-off options.
you might want to check out intelliscreen. its a great little add-on (aka jailbroken) but it really makes lock screen notifications awesome. I use it all the time for my work email.
I really want all of those equally! but I could live without data tethering and MMS
