We've been hearing even more chatter today about
copy and paste coming to iPhone 3.0 at
tomorrow's event, and that got us thinking: man, is that ever weak. Seriously, if Apple is really trying to "get up to speed with the Pre" as claimed by Kevin Rose, it'd better bring some actual firepower to the table, not basic functionality we should be taking for granted. So, we put it to you: what's the one thing you most want from iPhone 3.0

It would be great to have all of the above, as there has been at some point in time that I wanted to use them all. I have not personally used the horizontal keyboard that much myself, so I wouldn't care that much about it. The only thing I would worry about with the implementation of these features is will these slow down the system? Background apps I believe will most, but is a slower system and a possible lower battery life worth it? I believe so.

Proprietary headphones!
I've been wondering for some time what all of the fuss was about with background apps. I mean, the only thing that I can think of is possibly a radio app like pandora while using the web browser or something. Most of the time I don't find myself too irritated by this though.
However, I was shocked when I found out that I couldn't even receive MMS on my iPhone. I've had that functionality for well over 5 years on pretty much every dumbphone I've ever used.
Mine's not there, I wasn’t to be able to copy my notes from iTunes.
For the love of god, MMS and Flash. I voted MMS because I personally want it a bit more, but for most users I think Flash would win out.
Can I add my own?

I just want it on Verizon's network. I refuse to switch carriers just because of a phone, no matter how sweet that phone is.

I REALLY would LOVE to have Stereo Bluetooth AD2P without having to use an adapter.
If one wants all those things listed in the poll, excluding the stupid proprietary headphones, then one needs to get a proper smartphone - not an iPhone. The iPhone was never meant to be a true smartphone, as far as I know; It's a good - but not great - multimedia phone with some "smart" features.
I find it amazing how many people defend the iphone by stating "yeah but if you jailbreak it it can do that".
The fact is, if you have to hack a phone to get full functionality out if it, it isnt a decent product.
Interface-wise, the iphone is a fantastic product. When it has the basic features that a £30 nokia phone has, as well as all the gimmicks it currently has, then it will be unstopabble.
But as it is, missing some very basic features that are expected by most people, its simply a polished turd.
Ive always wondered how the iphone (exactly the same as it is now, in every way) would have been recieved if released by a different manufacturer. I think it would have bombed, and the very same people who own the current iphone would be stating things like "erm, wheres the mms" etc.
How about the most important change - More providers.
I just want push, especially for gmail, facebook, and IM apps.

You know, it says a lot about a product when the ability to Copy and Paste text is the most talked about feature in the new version of it.

How about an Apple approved (of course) security self destruct App when your phone is stolen. i would like to see what happends... BOOM!! oh that guy stole an iphone.

Ha, I just realised, that the two highest-polled features here were the only ones that WEREN'T implemented.
I'd like to see the calendar interacting with maps to locate appointments. Also the ability to add/tag contacts to calendar events. Lastly entering birthdays/anniversary to contacts should add them to the calendar.
didn't see a "not rape the customer for $10 for unlocking functions that should have been there in the first place" option.
