ReBraun music jukebox is beautifully retro, woefully expensive
Got a thing for vintage, do ya? If so, you owe it to yourself to have a gander at the ReBraun music jukebox, which was modeled after the absolutely stunning Audio 1 Kompaktanlage (circa 1962). This here device is crafted from aluminum and sports twin LCD displays in place of radio scales, and the optional WiFi module gives it a link to legions of internet radio stations. Needless to say, the mix of old and new is downright tear-jerking, but we'd argue the €12,000 ($15,561) price tag is even more so.

€12,000 for not even an original?! Where has the world gone to...
when the price was brought up in the headline, i was leaning towards the $500. Woefully expensive is hardly strong enough for that.
It looks like a cooking range/oven thingy.
WTF @ that price!!!!
This thing better cure deafness just by placing it in the room for that kind of money!
Here's the way I look at things like this: They are designed to part the wealthy from some of their money. They will definitely find rich suckers to buy this. Good! I wish I was in a position to design a piece of crap for crap hardware and sell it at exorbitant prices.
"Rich" people who are willing to pay very high prices for one off products aren't suckers. Some people like to have things that are unique, and those people are usually willing (able) to pay for those items. There is nothing wrong with a person who thinks that way, just like there is nothing wrong with those who don't want to spend exorbitant amounts of money on products like these. It no more makes them suckers as it makes you a cheap skate.
@Mr. Ford. Normally someone wealthy would go for more than just uniqueness. Any painting can be unique, but people pay millions for a Matisse or a Monet, not for a 3 year old painting of a cow, or someone's project where they put a computer in a microwave.
The guys who make this crap are no Van Gogh's, they take old designs, they replicate them and they put a 12,000 Euro price tag on it. However, as a Prince of Nigeria, I am in a position to make a unique offer to you...
I would imitate that. Make it cheaper for myself, also have a stylish stereo.
That thing looks woefully homemade. It looks like my older brother made it in the garage out of spare parts, camping equipment, and silver paint.
That’s 12000 € without speakers.
Isn't this an art piece rather than an actual product? I mean I'm sure it works and all that, but it's not a regular commercial effort, it's a one-off (hence silly price).
I'm guessing the original Braun Kompaktanlage was built long before many of the commenters on this site were even born...
Twelve thousand dollars and I have to pay extra for wi-fi? Seriously?
wtf is with the word woefully today ? u just learm it lol
That thing is magnifique. would be perfect on an orange wall. Make it for 600$ and im your man!
I thought this was a washing machine until I took a closer look
no one has mentioned bose yet :O
If selected as the winner to get one of these, I would take very good care of it!
The speakers remind me of.. http://www.quad-musik.com/html/braun_le1___le2.html
it's an add-on to the Adamo
For 12K you can get a real audiophile grade system with krell or adcom..
For U$15k you can get the low end of the real deal: Professional audio gear. Couple it with a netbook and a huge external drive.
Even the low end of the "professional grade" is ages ahead of anything "audiophile grade".
welcome back to the hippie movement
