LG teams with Kodak for future OLED devices
Details are still sparse, but Wired has it that LG Electronics has just inked a deal with OLED mainstay Kodak in order to use the latter's technology in all sorts of future devices. For those unaware, Kodak's actually been dabbling in OLED for ages now, though it rarely offers up dedicated products in order to take credit. Reportedly, LG could bake Kodak's OLED magic into devices such as mobile phones, televisions and digital photo frames, though we suspect LG has a few other out-of-the-box widgets planned as well. As much as we love the idea of an OLED watch phone, what we're really clamoring for is a big screen Scarlet with an OLED panel. Let's make it happen, alright folks?

I think big screen Scarlet's "panels" are mighty fine as they are..

This isnt new news, they announced the collaboration last year and for some reason its doing the rounds again.
Got one of the Kodak pic frames in at work yesterday, seriously good looking image but not perfect, some missing pixels and some definate swathes, lines in the image obvious when viewing solid colours, like the red background around that dog. doesnt look like kodaks QC specs are quite as tight as Sony's the XEL-1's we bought were all perfect, thats why they only have 10% yields and lose $1500 on each one they sell.

And just when digital picture frames were getting to be cheap... I hate that this example and the Sony XEL-1 both have the clunky base attached to the super thin screen (although the XEL-1 did look pretty sweet).

Dave Lanzillo here from Kodak. This is old news. Kodak originally made this announcement in March 2008 — here’s the original release: http://www.kodak.com/eknec/PageQuerier.jhtml?pq-path=2709&pq-locale=en_US&gpcid=0900688a808b4dd6
