I'm pretty sure the criteria for "vendor of the year" for Walmart is who sell to us at the lowest price stuff that the public keep buying and don't complain about. Throw in the fact that most parents (grandparents) over pay just to make the tyke happy.
I think I speak for most of us when I say: wtf?

So how exactly does one qualify for Wal-Mart's "vendor of the year," anyhow? Does the vendor have to meet a [low-] quality control process that ensures the highest lead content in the paint? Is there an executive bonus for ensuring that your overseas manufacturing plant defines a 'living wage' as pennies per day for underage factory workers? How about ... oh, never mind.
Sounds like someone didn't win vendor of the year. That, or they won Kmarts vendor of the year.
Nope... someone just likes ranting on his/my high horse when it comes to megacorporations, and Wal-Mart in particular.
Remember when their big PR push was "buy American-made"? Well, that was about 18 years ago, but at the time Discount Store News said "the American consumer clearly identifies Wal-Mart as a leader in American-made products." Compare to now... while protectionism is a Bad Thing, it's hard not to see the damage caused by rampant outsourcing and offshore manufacturing that has made Wal-Mart what it is today.
And this news ends up on a technology blog how?
Probably because they are making the pico-projector. And they made the nightvision goggles that were all the rage last year.
