HABEY's second 1080p-boasting, N270-powered mini HTPC brings along video proof
Following up on its impressive debut earlier this month, HABEY's unveiled the BIS-6540HD mini HTPC that, like its 6550 counterpart, is capable of running an impressive 1080p signal with a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 processor -- special thanks go to its HD hardware decoder for that feat. The fanless unit also features up to 2GB of DDR2 RAM, eight USB ports, a built-in CF socket, two SATA II ports with SSD support, DVI and VGA outputs, ethernet, and options for wireless and HD TV tuner. No word on pricing or availability, but it looks like it's being marketed as an OEM product and we suspect it'll cost more than a pretty penny. Check out the video after the break to see it rocking Planet Earth on Blu-ray.

Good that they're running Windows 7.
But W7 on Aero Basic = fugly.
Looks like XP to me. Pass me what ever you're smoking.
Well, that should teach me to look carefully.
It should teach you to pass that thing instead of yappin' too. ;)
Stuff happens. It's cool.
"...SATA II ports with SSD support..."
Wait, are there SATA II ports that don't support SSDs?
Backwards compatibility...
Wow, that's quite impressive. Would make a great stowaway HTPC!
Planet Earth isn't 1080p
It is if you buy the 1080p version.
What earth are you talking about? Blu-rays are 1080p, including Planet Earth. I think you are confusing with what you are downloading and the actual media product.
Don't low rank him, he's right I have it on blu ray and the box says its 1080i not that it really makes a difference
Perfect for XBMC.
Wouldn't work on XBMC unless they will support the built in HD hardware decoder in the future.
XBMC currently lacks hardware acceleration on Windows and the Atom CPU struggles, I tried it on my EeeBox. Something like MediaPortal works fine though as it uses the built in windows decoders that do have hardware acceleration.
yawn...give me ion or give me death
...So essentially your life is worth less than $100 then.
pfrr, just buy D945GCLF2/D945GCLF & ati hd2400pro low profile pci version for dxva
Not amazingly impressive, considering that the NVIDIA ION is capable of that and is palm sized, with around the same specs but with a better GPU.
Anyone have any ideas what the "HD" decoder is in this?
Unless you have a 50 inch screen on larger and are about 8 feet from the screen the eye can not distinguish the difference from 720p to 1080p there's not enough detail in a smaller screen, LCD or Plasma. Don't believe me, look it up at http://www.soundandvisionmag.com
720p has a lower resolution then full 1080p 1920x1080. If you've ever worked with video then you should be able to tell the difference when your source isn't a certain resolution
1080p TVs are great for using as a second PC monitor. At 5 feet it makes a huge difference over 720p. Spending an extra 100 for 1080p was definitely worth it for me. When I see 720p TVs displaying the same content ( blu ray ) it's pretty easy to tell the difference even at 8 at feet. Then again, I have 20/15 vision so maybe that has something to do with all of this.
Damnit, the suspence is killing me, does the baby bird get killed by the fox, or do the parents manage to rescue it?
The cameraman loses his shit after being alone in the woods for two months, and eats them both. Somebody needs to make a Planet Earth: Delicious Edition.
the fox gets like 3 or 4 of them.
