iriver P7 shows up for US pre-order
We already saw the iriver P7 teased yesterday alongside the P35 and that intriguing countdown clock, and now we've got a pre-order listing for the touchscreen PMP over at J&R. Priced at two Benjamins, mum's currently the word on a release date, but hopefully we'll know more when the countdown strikes zero on Monday.

You guys forgot to mention that you save 10$ if you order online.
They also forgot to mention when they're getting me one...
What, no browser?
The UI preview showed it had one. It also should have a few more web apps.
It would be nice to see the UI and the device at the same time though...
it's not an ipod touch its a pmp, but yeh it would be nice
If only the harddrive weren´t that small. Heck, even the old iPod I got at work years ago still has a 30 GB drive.
Its not a hard drive, its flash storage and the 8gb Ipod Touch costs around the same as this model so its in line in pricing.....
The Iriver p7 has a flash drive not a hard drive and it comes in a 8gb, 16gb and a 32gb.
Wow, good price. The 8gb clix2 was more expensive then this!!
Does the title say p70 ? isnt it p07 ?
The resolution seems far too little to me. 480 x 272? Nice looking device however.
By the way, the image link takes you to the 8GB model for 170... the image shows, and J&R also sells the 16GB version for 200.
wow i can't believe a company would release this and think it will succeed against the ipod touch. i would love to punch those executives in the face. This is absolutely no competition for the ipod touch. none. its big, stupid and ugly and has the same res screen. seriously... why the hell would anybody buy this? to spite apple? that's the only reason i can see.
Maybe because they hate everything Apple and all Apple products as much as I do? Or maybe they just want to sell something and make some money? Why the hell do you go to work? Do you seriously think you're as good as Apple employees? What a fucking joke.
compare the file types supported by the ipod and the files supported by this.
You read like a little ten-year-old kid hating girls before he's experienced anything with them.
What sort of games can you play on this thing? None, you say? Next.
Wow! Fully featured with included FM radio. When it breaks and no longer plays video, at least you can listen to FM to console yourself for not buying an iPod Touch.
I'd rather have a creative zen vision.
add this to the guaranteed to faillproduct list. seriously who in their right mind would purchase over ipod touch.,.,????
please respond if u would choose this over ipod touch, exactly . no one.
Why not browser?
iriver, cowon and archos. best DAP companies out there.
i would feel sorry , if i saw someone with this device. no wifi,no accelorometer,no ambient light sensor,no 20,000 apps,no games,no voip calling capability,no 8 browser windows, etchow sad. Only a completely uninformed dee dee deee! would drop $200 on a device that is worth no more than $89.guaranteed to fail n tank hard here in usa.American consumers are very well informed.
it might have a chance in a third world country, where it would be sold in outdoor market n some poor pheasant might not know that has way better options out there for him.,
Yep, without wifi and a browser, it's a waste of hardware considering how cheap it would have been to add wifi these days. Of course, wifi would reduce battery life.
Even though my Archos 605 has WiFi, I'd still put this device over it. Archos charges extra to "wake" the partially functioning browser, and the list of supported audio and video formats on this iRiver device is much better IMHO. I too could use more storage capacity, but with a Micro SD slot, it's not a bad compromise. I'll be watching this one closely... And if I get back to work again, I just may pick one up.
