Samsung's NC10 successor, the N110, announced and reviewed

There's nothing like a little surprise to get the week off on the right foot, so thanks to Samsung for getting us rolling by sneaking a successor to its venerable NC10 netbook straight into the willing hands of Laptop Magazine, where it was stealthily given the full review treatment. From what we can tell this new N110 is mainly a style refresh, offering the same keyboard 1.6GHz Atom N270 processor, memory, and storage of the NC10, as well as the bigger battery and more usable touchpad the company added to the recent special edition -- now clad in a sophisticated, red-rimmed, matte exterior. With battery life topping eight hours in real-world usage, and a price of $469, this one picks up where its predecessor left off and seems like a good choice for those who want a little more style with their netbooking -- or who are too impatient to wait for the NC20.

Just fucking stupid. Why not just add a battery option to the original nc10

Why are we waiting for the NC20 again? Whats so special about the via processor?
Hurricane @ Mar 23rd 2009 7:24AM
For a more battery eating processor
The via fails at netbook usage if it eats more batterys than the atom
Gnormie @ Mar 23rd 2009 7:48AM
It's more powerful (can actually run vista smoothly and play some quite high res video) much faster in day to day usage and uses practically the same amount of power (like 4-5% more on average then the Atom)

I like the NC20's design and specs, but the VIA processor is a turn-off. I plan on running Mac on it. Obviously Apple's not released a VIA processor computer yet so there isn't any kernel support for it.
sockatume @ Mar 23rd 2009 10:16AM
Actually, while the Nano is faster on paper, in benchmarks of the NC20 it's neither faster nor more energy efficient than the Atom.

I liked the white one better.
Anyway NC20>both.

anyone know when the HP 2140 with the 1366 resolution is coming out or if it's available yet?? When it came out they said it would be a few months behind, and that was a few months ago...

Hey engadget, could you guys do some digging into the NC310. I've not heard of it, and it looks like a stunning little netbook. Is it Korea only or something?

crap... I feel dumb...

Personally, I like my white/pearl one better than this new color scheme. The only thing that appeals to me on this new model is the larger touchpad.
barc0de @ Mar 23rd 2009 12:25PM
Stop flooding the market with a million netbooks that have the same interiors. Use the model number jump for something significant.
Damon @ Mar 23rd 2009 2:18PM
And still stupid, blue F7 &F8 buttons!? That really effs me off with my black NC10.
Cosmo @ Mar 23rd 2009 8:58PM
Aw crap and this has a glossy screen too vs matte in the original model!! : (
ManekiNeko @ Mar 24th 2009 3:59AM
Venerable? Post-EEE netbooks are barely a year old now! You're acting like the previous model is Johnny Carson or something.
