Rota-Rota USB hub doubles as a thermometer for reasons unknown
You know what's not uncommon on Brando USB hubs? Weird things. You know what is uncommon on USB hubs in general? Thermometers. The Rota-Rota hub takes USB hubs where they've likely never, ever been before (and may very well never return to) by including a trio of rotating USB ports, a multicard reader and dials that read out the current room temperature in both Celsius and Fahrenheit. If those tools sound like the perfect addition to your desk, hit the read link and hand over $15.50.

Needs a compass.
elmuerKo @ Mar 24th 2009 8:40AM
i'd buy it if it had an altimeter
Esat Dedezade @ Mar 24th 2009 11:26AM
Or an althiometer.
ephraimephraim @ Mar 24th 2009 8:54AM
Needs spelling checked. "Tempreture" ?
syko21 @ Mar 24th 2009 8:46AM
I got a USB hub from a drug rep for free once and it had a thermometer. This was about a year ago.
techguy @ Mar 24th 2009 8:56AM
How hot is your USB device? Now you know!
barry99705 @ Mar 24th 2009 8:56AM
Too bad the temperature is going to be off due to the heat of the internal electronics.
Ipsum @ Mar 24th 2009 8:58AM
If they add a potato peeler to this, it's a definite buy for me.
steemcb @ Mar 24th 2009 9:01AM
Why isn't this filed under Crapgadget???
Joe @ Mar 24th 2009 10:35AM
This really should be filed under crapgadget unless they can make the temp sensors sync up with your computer's on board temperature sensors....
Dyranios @ Mar 24th 2009 9:05AM
Perfect to go with an Xbox 360

Check this out: piss off.

Great-- delete the spammer's original comment but leave my reply dangling, exposed, and withering in the breeze? Thanks, engadget.
Esat Dedezade @ Mar 24th 2009 11:27AM
" dangling, exposed, and withering in the breeze"
And that kids, is why context is important.
John Sullivan @ Mar 24th 2009 10:03AM
Despite the bad taste in my mouth from jackass spammer "Me" above, I still kinda want this hub. I can't explain why, but I like it. There goes another $15.50 (+ shipping) from my wallet thanks to Brando... regret, here I come!
greatsunjester @ Mar 24th 2009 10:12AM
Oh the steampunk options for this thing..... Have the three pivoting ports act as controls... volume, screen magnification, whatever else. Or got the Star Trek route and as you pull/push them the device makes Transporter sound effects.
.....OK.. maybe I have had too much coffee again this morning.....

If it was Brawndo it would have electrolytes, then it would have what you crave!

I think this wouldn't be too bad. Sure the temp is probably a bit off, but I doubt by much. I've never had a USB hub get very warm anyways.
Slycer @ Mar 24th 2009 10:52AM
Must be a pain to measure temperature rectaly with this.
tcosupreme @ Mar 24th 2009 11:55AM
Anyone else notice that the device has a misspelling on it?
tempreture?
Mikee @ Mar 25th 2009 11:32AM
No, but I did notice that an awful lot of people on the internet seem to think there's only one way to spell a word.
Alex Deva @ Mar 24th 2009 12:50PM
First time I ever see someone typing Fahrenheit correctly, but misspelling Celsius.
hamster3000 @ Mar 24th 2009 1:30PM
Seems useful, other than the thermometer. But that engrish...
Chris Coughlin @ Mar 24th 2009 1:39PM
Holy crap! Look kids, it's Jimmy Hoffa underneath the red 'Meadowlands' jump drive. Does the front sliver compartment act as a Starbucks VIA packet holder too?!
Patrick @ Mar 24th 2009 7:16PM
The really "weird" bit for me was this: Why are there two thermometers? Isn't the cheaper/typical method of designing something to be read in two different standards simply to make two sets of markings?
If this catches on, though, I may have to cover up the KPH on my lone speedometer, and get another one installed for when I'm feeling metric.
notexactly @ Apr 20th 2009 6:29PM
Does anyone else notice that there is a thermometer plugged into it?
