Arduinocaster MIDI pseudo-keytar sure to entice Bob Casale

We see all sorts of instrument-mods around this part, but most of them are trying as hard as they might to look like regular, every day instruments. That's why the Arduinocaster is so fascinating -- it's got no interest in looking normal -- just like us! An Arduino-based MIDI instrument that makes use of switches and LEDs to control the "strings," and an opto reflective switch for strumming. Hit the read link for further details and check the video of it in action after the break.

This is the greatest triangle-based musical innovation since the triangle.
Guitar Hero: Real Instrument edition.
Warning, talent required
*and rainbow tights
Yeah, i was hoping he would start rockin out with some spanish guitar, al di meola style
more like guitar hero "10 button edition" this still have zero similarities to a real guitar besides the shape of the equipment
Nice Devo reference...
Unfortunately, this came out about 25 years too late for Devo to make proper use of it. Hehe
so by not looking normal you take the exact same format as thousands of other blog sites? hmmmm....
Nope. Not what I was referring to.
"There's really nothing to it.
ARF ARF!
You know you wanna do it.
Do the doggy bounce!
Bongo solo!"
ugh that was possibly the lamest episode of flight of the conchords ever... but props for referencing what LOOKS like a keytar
meh, this guy really doesn't have control over what he is playing.
just because he has the programmed up and down strum of all strings, it doesn't make it an instrument.
if anything the guitar hero controller has more control than this because you can "pick" a string or chord instead of an on/off switch of a cascading strum of all the strings...
Right?
Plus the sounds he chose are just awful and stupid-sounding. I declare this device lame.
right on. it's an electronic... harpsichord 8| you know. like one that your grammar school teacher would break out for singalongs?
"Yeah, this is really lame!" say all the people who fail at Legos...
I always get worried when I have to play guitar, now there's no need to fret.
I get it.
I don't think that's the problem.
Pete is on a rampage in this comment section! Sup Pete you having a rough day buddy?
Could be fun!
Look, a high-tech balalaika!
Damn, when I first saw the image, I thought it was the Rock Band version of the instrument Spock played in the original series episode The Way To Eden.
1. this thing looks like a balalaika. 2. this sounds like something The Books would do. especially at the beginning. or maybe that's just me.
My first thought was they invented an electric Balalaika.
