We know, you're a firm believer that there's evidence of thaumaturgy splattered all over here, but believe it or not, all it takes to create a camera in a new color is powerful signature and a little paint. As
Pentax has done
so often in
the past, it's pumping out new editions of old cameras with fresh hues. The latest duo to don new Springtime wardrobes is the
K20D -- which is now outfitted in titanium -- and the
K-m, which now sports an absolutely peculiar olive shade. Both models are being limited to 1,000 in quantity, and while no price is mentioned, we get the feeling a ticket to Tokyo may be your only shot at acquiring one.

I feel like I'll be the only one who likes the olive color...
Nah, I actually REALLY like it too.
Although with that particular shade of green and the yellow stripe, I can't help but think of woot.com. Haha
it's awesome, and will get several degrees less hot in the sun, by my reckoning.
behold the Spartan Cam!
Holding out for Digital Camo
Dark gray and black digital camo...mmmmmmm digital camo...
The K-m is green. What color is the K-y?
transparent
olive = ugly
Limited becomes less attractive nowadays as your cannot upgrade your image sensor, and it is guaranteed that your camera will be out-of-dated in 2 years and not working in 10 years.
So you are more likely to collect its enclosure rather than a working item in the long run.
Image sensors cannot be upgraded even on non-limited editions, so I'm not sure what you mean.
Lots use their cameras beyond 2 years and I think the megapixel race has slowed right down in recent times, making upgrades less of a sell.
Have you ever heard of digital back?
Image sensor means the electronic light sensor used in digital cameras
Digital backs are usually only available in medium format or full frame cameras. Those systems typically cost greater than $5,000. The K-m system starts at less than $700 with a lens. You should really understand what market segment a product is targeting before you trash it.
Your an idiot. DSLR's don't have interchangeable sensors and any camera is going to be out of date in 2 years.
Your thoughts are so limited.
Why can't we develop a small interchangable digital back on DSLR?
It is technically ready but they just do not want to push the market of the expensive digital back.
But, for this limited version, they can do it and lift up the price to see if the market is ready to buy more expensive DSLR.
You guys are really stupid!
I still like the white K2000, hmm I wonder if ColorWare will paint my D40.
Hmmm... "thaumaturgy" was dictionary.com's word of the day for March 24th. I'd say that Mr. Murph was eager to take it for a spin.
It sucks when they only release cool stuff in one country. If you want to get one, and you don't live in Japan, why not try http://www.buy-proxy.com and get someone in Japan to send you one.
titanium, not new, it was used on the Minolta Dynax 9ti edition
Miss, as you can tell by the color of my camera, I'm a photographer with the U.S. military.
Now please, remove your outer garments. I need to photograph you in your underwear for, um…
national security.
Yes, that's it, national security.
