HTC Magic (Sapphire) with T-Mobile USA logo hits the FCC
It's been just over a month since HTC's Magic / Sapphire first made its way through the FCC, although without any indication its destiny lied with T-Mobile. Well, it's back for Round Two, and this time the images clearly have the company's logo emblazoned at the top, just as it was at MWC when Google was showcasing its offline Gmail, and 7.2Mbps HSDPA. Yep, it's clearly heading to you-know-who's 3G network. No "G2" in sight, so for now we'll have to wait to see which of the three likely names -- or something else entirely -- T-Mo decides to run with.

Cool
Lmao Zedong
This will DESTROY the iPhone - 3.0 or 4.0. Tmobile is the best mobile company in the USA.
I can't wait to buy 2!
@Vanilla
You really think that?
...kewl...
Awesome phone, painfully ugly logo.
Man, T-Mobile is certainly getting some great new hardware and services recently.
yeah. and it only is yet another that a certain other big carrier has yet to get one decent smartphone. it is absolutely killing me.
reminder*
Anyone know if this phone coming to T-Mobile in the UK? Vodafone is already accepting pre-orders for this phone here, but not a sausage yet from T-Mobile...
@ London Consultant
Did i hear sausage??? Weird.
awesome but i wonder how people who buy the HTC magic will root it since it has no keyboard? nice to see t-mobile beefing up their product line the G1, magic and touch pro 2 (maybe) it's long overdue.
Given that the Vodafone Magic is running Cupcake (with an Onscreen Keyboard,) I assume it's a given this one will also. That, or there is literally no way to enter data into the device...
What a keyboardless htc. The cloning process is almost complete. Will finally bring out good iPhone clone. Question is will a clone kill the iPhone,.,??
how does a keyboardless phone equate to an iphone clone? that's rediculous man. you smelly apple people are really getting to me!
another ridiculous iphone comment and ill shank you.
What the hell does this have to do with the frigin iphone? The first pocket PCs didn't have keyboards so are they clones as well? Get a life!
how long does after it clears fcc do phones show up in the market?
Did anyone else notice the back side of the device says "5.0 Megapixel Camera"?

Good eye, though I wouldn't put much value in that seeing how bad the G1's camera is.
Burt, that logic doesn't even remotely make sense, it is a completely different camera unit, and if it is anything like what's on the Diamond/TP, it will be great.
i don't see a flash though...
This thing may actually be uglier than a G1, and definitely less practical.
right on that.
i'll pass.
I disagree sir. I can type WAY faster on my iPod touch than I can on my friend's G1. I welcome the change with the Magic without a qwerty keypad.
@WiLLGT09
I feel compelled to point out the obvious.
That's because you have a lot more practice typing on the iPod than you do on the G1. With equal amounts of practice on both units, you would most likely be able to type faster on the G1 because you can physically feel the keys.
Hmm, didn't read article, is this bathroom scales?
It also doesn't have a "with Google" on the back cover.
Looks very nice. I'm looking forward to seeing these in stores.
You know, if this hits the streets in the next month or so, I might just switch from AT&T for this when my contract expires. I might be a bit of an Apple fanboy and I'd love to get an iPhone, but $70 a month with no text messages is a bit steep. T-Mo is $54 with 400 sms. Hmm...
They better get the bigger keys. I despise the those thin call, back, home, end keys. Makes it look cheap and I doubt it has a good feel on your thumbs.
I'm sure that it will, this is just the prototype unit that they sent to the FCC for testing. To the best of my knowledge, all that has to be finalized on the FCC testing unit is the internal hardware and the location of the FCC information sticker. Aesthetics of the outside of the device are free to change, and since HTC is already producing the Vodaphone version in bulk it makes sense for T-Mobile to pick up the same version instead of demanding that an older prototype version be made for them instead.
Yea tmobile the been the just got catch up with the internet connection
I disagree. I've used both an MDA and MDA compact and I prefer no keyboard. It's probably just a mental thing but sliding out a keyboard is such a bother to me. I like to write right on the screen with the stylus or use the onboard keyboard for one handed texting. Also, it makes the phone thinner and easier to pocket. And, it's easier to get a silicon cover for the phone to protect it. No keyboards all the way for me.
I dont like that odd button layout.. EVEN man EVEN. no straggler buttons!
I actually would rather have a G1 than this "G2". No physical keyboard, and (AFAIK) it's got the same specs other than the lack of a KB and a little bit thinner.
The one cool thing is this should lower the price of the G1, so I can get one cheaper =D
oh my, its gonna be an interested and very hot summer, but im so excited for next week!!!!! Were find out for sure!!!!! might have to take off, lol
Hopefully they'll actually start marketing this thing.
I will be selling my G1 when this thing hits. Thin rules.
