Refurbished BlackBerry Bold free-on-contract at AT&T (today, anyway)

Not digging that $299.99 on contract pricing for RIM's BlackBerry Bold? If you're kosher with placing previously loved gadgets in your presence, you can score one today for the low, low price of absolutely free. Apparently the deal is only valid on AT&T's website and only for today, so you might want to pull the trigger now and think about it later.

The "free" offer is for new customers only. For upgrades and add-ons, the price is $199. Still not a bad deal.

you can order it from ATT @ 866-391-0749 if you have an existing line.. they will give it to you for $129 and offer a $50 rebate. I just got it, they waived the upgrade fee and gave me free shipping.

Unfortunately, it's not really free - you're paying with that 2-year contract, which is to say, when the Pre comes out on ATT later on, you're not going to have the option of getting the Pre for it's subsidized price after 2-year contract.

yup, I just tried and the damn thing won't order unless I add it for a new line instead of my family plan, what a buzz kill. now the links dead btw. typical since I just saw the article a few minutes ago, saw the deal, tried to login to order and now it's gone. AT&t customers. Call and threaten to cancel. Then tell them about the engadget article for the link to the new timer pricing. They will honor it if u are a good negotiator. I told them that with verizon I get free storms for switching tell them business discount ie IBM. Got two new bolds.

I was able to call the sales number for ATT and get them to waive the upgrade price, and match the online price of free. I have had some issues with them lately. They sent me a pantec matrix when I thought i was getting the matrix pro - quite different phones. So I am sending back the junky matrix and getting the bold for free!!! I are also refunding me the price I paid for the matrix. thanks Engadget for the heads up on this.
