Honda's "Let it Shine" commercial turns a grid of Insights into giant LED display
ASIMO and his Earth-loving robot compadres pulling the strings at Honda have once again managed to find a way to save us humans from ourselves. All it took was an affordable hybrid, apparently, and Honda is showing off its new Insight by turning those LED headlights into one gigantic animated Lite-Brite in an upcoming commercial. The spot's called "Let it Shine," and the video's after the break. Hit up the read link for the making of video and a detailed carbon footprint breakdown of the shoot -- you know you want to.

you know what i really like about this car, it gives you a level based on how environment friendly you drive... such as your acceleration, breaking, turns etc. and then you can level up if you get better and better. and then you can be like a level 5 leaf driver! lol. i love that, it should be in every car, it would motivate people to drive very green friendly.
Dont all cars have that? i.e. in the form of a MPG rating or L/100KM display on the console?
You dont need to be shown a green leaf to know your being frugal on your fuel usage.
Im currently getting a score of 12.8L/100KM. To hell with the environment, and horray for cheap gas!
I believe you are confusing the 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid w/ the insight. The Fusion has a display on each side of the speedo and on the right screen is the leaf achievement system you speak of. I do think its a good idea to put a MPG display in every car made- its fun to see it go from 99mpg to 6mpg when you step on the go pedal.

i hate posting a giz subsidiary link as much as you hate reading it... but it's what google gave me when i felt lucky.
PS, yeah, ford had a very simmiliar system as well... but i just want to clarify what i mean... maybe it came off wrong
its called ecological drive assist.
I'm considering one of these sometime in late summer. One of the real bummers? Bluetooth only available in the EX model, you know, the most expensive one.
In order to get bluetooth you have to buy the navigation package. A $2000 Navigation package, for a commuter car. That's such an awesome waste of money.
That song SUCKS. Every time a man hears it, his balls shrink a little.
Be careful or before you know it, you will be a woman.
I had to listen to a little 80's Metal to get my manhood back.
C'mon now...haven't you ever been just a little bit curious? :P
The BMW M3 get better gas miliage than a Prius.

This crap is all a green marketing scam. Plus the batteries are environmentally dangerous when they are discarded after 5 years,
The Prius isn't made to be driven flat out on a race track. You may have noticed that Top Gear's test didn't involve the M3 & Prius driving in real world conditions across London for 20 Miles. I've driven my Prius in London an got 67mpg over a 20 mile journey (as apposed to the 19mpg achieved on the race track)
With regard to your statement on the battery. They are not replaced after 5 years. Here in the UK, all Prius come with an EIGHT year/100,000 Toyota warranty. There are ten year old Prius' that are operating on the original battery. In fact, The only Prius batteries that have been replaced, are those that have been damaged in road traffic accidents. Prius that haven't been involved in any accidents, are still operating on the original battery.
wow michael, there are 10 year old prius's? that's weird, considering they were introduced in 2001........
The ad appears to be made in South Africa, judging from the making of video
I would buy one JUST because of that ad.
This is a two-seater, right? At least the 2001-03 Insight was. So comparison to the four-seater, family car Prius is not that fair...
Makes me want to run outside and hug a tree...
wowwwww, thats alot of work
well they finally figured out what to do with all those cars sitting at the port
That was so sweet :)
Quite funny to see those hundreds of acres of unsold new cars put to use for a commercial. Next: produce EVEN MORE cars, cover Nevada desert with them and signal dirty gestures to the aliens.
It's shopped. i can see it from the pixels...
I smell a recession antidote!
Have you seen the making of video? I have it on my blog here: http://www.thinkunthink.com/?p=361
