Dreamcast tablet is a handsome, portable solution for your discontinued gaming needs
This isn't the first Dreamcast mod we've seen around here, not by a long shot -- but it's surely one of the most elegant. Built around a 15-inch LCD, this guy is a scant 2 1/4-inches thick, but it gets up to 3.5 hours of playtime on a full charge, sports an A/V out, one watt stereo sound, and a custom-built tray loading GD-ROM -- just the thing for playing House of the Dead 2 on the go. We won't belabor the point -- just make sure you check out the mod-licious video after the break.

dreamcast rules. quantum physics are crap.
Dreamcast was an awesome system. It was way underrated!
No one trusted Sega after the 32 and saturn came and went. When PS came out and killed saturn and then N64 everyone switched to SONY.
The problem is, people who owned Dreamcast probably think it was great - but so few people owned it - was the very reason it died.
I think Jaguar was underrated cause I owned it and there were things I liked about it. Most others didn't and they won't ever know what my experience with it was.
Dreamcast sold 10.6 million units, Atari Jaguar sold 250,000 units. Dreamcast failed not because of lack of quality, it was a very high quality system. It failed because Sega did not have the money to market their system to the masses. I remember that for every Sega ad there were 20 or 30 Sony ads. Dreamcast had many many great games, Atari Jaguar didn't. Not to mention that even the 64 bit Jaguar was marginally better than the SNES. Yeah thats right. If you do not believe me go to wikipedia and check the numbers.
Funny thing is about the Dreamcast is that a lot of people played it when visiting friends but the thing is that everybody was waiting for the second coming. The PS2. Which for a year after it came out did not have a single title that could compete or beat the best of what I've seen on the Dreamcast. Forget even about quality of games at that point. But people still wanted to buy the PS2.
Hey hey! Come on over, it's time for some more Craaaaaaaazy Taxi!
It plays fine on the PSP
THIS IS THE LAST STRAW!!! i'm pullin out my dreamcast this weekend, charging up the internal battery and having myself a grand old time!!
I thought by tablet, it mean't touchscreen.. Man I'm dumb..
It is a touchscreen. Or a Wacom digitizer. Thing is, you can't really use those with a Dreamcast now can you? XD
Does anyone remember NeoGeo that system cost almost $700. I liked playing at the arcade around the amc theater. Just couldn't convince parents to buy it or the Atari Lynx for Christmas.
I will buy this!!!!!
Hoho...
The house of the dead huh?
Good game.
House of the Dead is not a good game on the go... you need a damn light gun. i seriously hope he's not playing with a controller. buried as inaccurate.
Dreamcast... amazing. it was ahead of its time. the sports games were phenomenal and truly innovative at the time. NFL2K series > all. i remember selling 7-9 n64 games to EB just to buy NFL2K... worth it!
I remember electronics boutique having a broken promotion one week where by purchasing 5 used copies of NFL2K and trading them back in right away ended up netting a greater discount on a new game than the purchase cost of the 5 copies.
Dreamcast was way underrated (along with the movie Biodome). Sonic on Dreamcast remains on my all time top ten. It is unfortunate that Sega couldn't scrounge up enough capital to make magic happen.
Biodome FTW.
I miss the Dreamcast. However, I don't miss the loud GD-ROM drive. It's worse than the XBox 360's fan, I swear.
I have to agree, the DC is an amazing system, but that GD-ROM drive is extremely loud. Unlike the Xbox though, its not a consistent noise. In the 360 is developed by the drive and fans spinning, the GD Rom noise was just the diode's drive.
Have to say; when I've got some cash and time on the side; I'll definately be buying a second DC (refuse to mod the first) and modding that up (ironically its sat right above my HD DVD player - both still get extensive use).
Nice mod...and yes, games are still coming out for the Dreamcast.
