HP TouchSmart tx2z with 4GB RAM, 320GB HDD now $450 off with coupon
In the market for a multitouch tablet? HP's TouchSmart tx2z, both the readers' and editors' choice for Tablet PC of the Year in the 2008 Engadget Awards, currently has two stackable discounts totaling $450, dropping the price here to a much more manageable $650. That includes an AMD Turion X2 Dual-core processor, 4GB RAM and a 320GB hard drive. Offer expires tomorrow, so hit up LogicBuy soon via the read link for details and the promo code.

Good deal!
Wow, this touchscreen breakthrough is taking the market by storm. The darned things are so popular HP has to offer a 40% discount to move them off the shelves.
LOL - touch screen desktops were a bust back in 1983, and not much has changed in 25 years.
Which is better...this or the HP dv2?
sooooooooo tempting.
as nice as a tablet would be, even with multitouch, even with the option for 8gb of RAM, even with windows 7 probably rocking on this beast, i can't shake the 12.1 inch form factor, and my continual pet-peeve with ALL laptops is the total lack of serial port.
*sigh*
i guess it's time to get with the times :X cisco routers don't really need to be configured now do they :P
I have a serial to usb adapter that didn't cost me more than like, 10-15 dollars, and it works perfectly/isn't too big (well, as much as can be expected since one side has to be serial port size XD). I use it to connect my intuos2 tablet to my serial-port-less desktop, but it (would) work as well on a laptop (if my laptops had the kind of stuff to run photoshop XD)
There is no way to add the coupon code, so the max you get in rebate is $200. I would buy if it was really $450 off.
$200 + $250 coupon = $450 off. Apply the coupon during checkout.
any hope for Canadians? Hp doesnt ship to Canada =(
damn not a bad deal at all..
I came within seconds of buying it but I can't do it.
damn its not loading... its gone isnt it?
Dude, somebody tell Lauren
I messed with it at microcenter, gotta say the screen looks horrible and the touchscreen is sluggish and unpredictable. I was all aboard until i got a hands on...
I thought about getting this, but I have a rarely used netbook so even a tablet probably won't get used. Think I'll just get a PC monitor instead (or a TV with 1080p for it)
they dont ship to australia....i was about to fucking buy one :(
Unfortunately I just bought a netbook, and before that a wacom tablet, before that, an HDTV. I think I'm done spending money on shiny things for a while. Maybe I'll put a touchscreen on my eee, though.
This is perhaps the worst built computer ever. I hate it so much. The screen is fiddly, as is the case, there are buttons all around the screen, making it hard to even adjust without mistakenly touching some controls. And then there's the shitty useless fingerprint reader located only for people with fingers aligned horizontally to the chest (which is also dead easy to touch by mistake). There is no use for it and the placement couldn't be worse. The fan runs all the time and the exhaust is hot as hell, making you burn your fingers if you happen to place your hand there. It also has
why did i even consider about buying an eeepc t91 when this is available :O
shame its only usa promotion
This is truly horrible laptop. It would be expensive at six dollars. If you buy one you have zero sense, zero discernment.
i dont know why you would say that, i am typing from it right now and it runs great, even with windows 7 on it. It just isnt for playing games. but thats why i have a desktop pc.
Son of a #^#&@!!!! I JUST bought one yesterday and am typing on it now! Nooooooooo!
I got a chance to play with this at Best Buy, it's nice, but it just felt small too me.
The Coupon hit its max, we're checking with HP for a new one, we'll know by Sunday or Monday.
To all those saying the quality control is horrible or that the quality of this laptop is low, please do not comment on this unless you have spent more time with the laptop. I have had my tx1000 for nearly 2 years now and have had no problems with it besides the heat and lower than average battery life. With the 6-cell you should get 2-3 hours and after 2 years the life of the 6-cell goes down to about 1 hour which is typical for a battery after heavy, heavy use.
The tx1000 is one of the sturdiest, longest lasting HP laptop I have ever owned and strongly recommend the later and much better tx2 variant. It's a fantastic form factor and even got mistakenly called a netbook by a few poeple. If you are going to college, this is the laptop to own!
At the time of writing this however the coupon has expired so wait again and keep an eye on deals2buy.com
What's causing the heat and power drainage? Is there any way to fix this?
This laptop is AWFUL. I have one and it drives me insane. You would not believe how noisy this thing is. I got it because I liked the tablet idea but it has some serious lag issues. The touchpad is always very buggy. I'm just using it as a Windows 7 test machine since I can't concentrate when using it for anything useful.
So what's up Engadget? You turned into slickdeals???
i wouldnt buy these HP laptops, they all have motherboard faliures
i work at a computer repair shop and id say somewhere around... 60% - 70% of broken laptops with dead motherboards are HP's
after that we got the gateways/ dells, and then we got the like 15 year old thinkpads that still work, but have either a screen backlight problem, or just a broken screen.
it really shows you.. which computers last. And thinkpads sure as hell do.
dont' buy this computer. it really is riddled with problems. the viewing angle on the screen makes this a bad choice for anyone with friends. (..... so maybe okay for most of you) however, a terrible choice for anyone wanting to do graphics, video or artwork. pressure sensitivity does not work in ANY MAJOR ART PROGRAM. photoshop, painter all the big guns aren't supported.
the fact that there is problems is less the issue then the companies stand that "there is no problem" or "we don't support that" or "i've never heard of that issue before" when its widely known issues i call in about. Hp is not a good company to deal with. always polite, never helpful.
is very good, the best computer... my name is jonnathan the nacionality colombian, trank you, the computer is very good...
