RIM sells its 50 millionth BlackBerry, surprises even itself with earnings

Other devices may have made it to the mark a bit quicker but, any way you shake it, selling 50 million of any consumer electronics device is pretty darn impressive, especially when the device in question is often laden with contracts and hefty monthly bills. What's more, in addition to announcing that milestone, RIM also confirmed that it's current user base now totals a whopping 25 million, 3.9 million of which were added in the last quarter alone. Those new users also look to have helped push RIM past even its own best earnings forecasts, with the company reporting fourth quarter revenue of $3.46 billion, or about a 24.5% jump from $2.78 billion of the previous quarter -- which should be almost enough to make RIM's top execs forget about all those pesky problems they've been facing over the past year.

Are y'all just hating on apple cuz stanford to offer iPhone os development course and not blackberry,,???please put fanboyism aside . Bb stop tooting your own horn .!!
Please learn to write. Or fuck off.
Oh the irony.
i remember back in the day when i owned that 'berry pictured above, my company gave out to all employees. We would sit in meetings and message the other people in the meeting saying things like, "This guys an asshole." or "Damn he smells bad!" or my favorite in meeting game "Guess that stain!" oh what good times....
What a damn joke. The iPhone was supposed to put RIM out of business and RIM is doing better than ever. BlackBerry users must not even consider the iPhone as being a serious handset. Maybe there's just something about having a real keyboard that some people can't resist. Unless RIM is giving their handsets away, those numbers are pretty impressive considering RIM has ONE retail store in all of the U.S. RIM must have no overhead at all.
Hmmm. . .50 million BlackBerry units sold, all-time.
30 million iPhones and iPod Touch units sold. . .since 2007.
Blackberry Sales: Ever increasing.
iPhone Sales: Skyrocketed, then flattened out and now declining.
Hmm, looks to me like Apple is having a tough time trying to make it to the big 50. Rim will sell 100mil units before Apples makes 50.
And you sir fail with your sales numbers.
We are not talking about the sales of iPod Touches. An ipod touch is not a smart phone.
Apple has only sold 17million iPhones since 2007
Why don't we apply a little of your namesake to this situation...
Since 2007 Apple has sold 17M iPhones. How many BB's have been sold in the same period?
Over the last 4/2/1 Quarters what has the trend been for Apple and BB?
Hey setev if you are addressing me, I think I know how to press a key. Let me see if I have it right:
#1 put finger on letter
#2 press.
Is that how it's done setev? The problem is as you execute #2 it selects the letter you chose in step #1 . One shouldn't need instructions on how to use a key unless the key doesn't work as all other keys do . And I do close applications when I am done with them . Do you think I need to reboot it at least once a day because I'm not pressing the keys correctly setev ?
As far as pressing Ctrl+A on my computer, I have no idea what that does because I also don't use a POS PC, and I don't know if there is a key combination that would cause my Mac to need to be rebooted. The only thing you got right is that the only reason I went with the POS Storm is that I have 4 lines with Verizon, and I'm also very happy with them as a carrier.
I think that maybe you suffer from Fat Mouth syndrome satev as it seems that even though you have never even owned the Storm you feel qualified to comment on it's use .
The ONLY reason most people don't have iPhones is because they are only available with ATT . If the idiots at Verizon had taken the Apple deal, RIM would be hurting right now, and Apple would be celebrating the sale of their 50 millionth iPhone (in less than 3 years).
Did I mention how much the Blackberry Storm sucks ?
what blackberry is that in the picture leading to the link the monochrome with the wheel on the front looks really cool
I think the original probably had the best keyboard. And I think the clickable scroll wheel was better than the trackball. http://www.divx-converter.net I think Danger's Hiptop/Sidekick also went backwards in terms of usability and feel with their keyboards and wheel-to-trackball change.
