Dexim's Shu-Lip for your third-gen iPod shuffle spotted in the wilds of the internet

No, it's not the most terrifically exciting accessory we've ever come across -- but Dexim's Shu-Lip, which plugs into the end of your new iPod shuffle -- conveniently converting it into a thumb drive, is no longer just a render. We'll admit that something about the little guy kind of screams "super cute." It's a bit pricier than we'd first heard -- but $16 is still a really sweet deal, right? Right?

Not right!
Not when it should have come with the original purchase it isn't.
it has a usb with it
Seems about right to me. It would usually cost 6 dollars, but you know, since it's an apple product accessory, they tack on an extra ten bucks. Apple people will buy it because it's all shiny and Apple-y. Seems like an excellent, yet overplayed, business plan to me!
@Joe: It pretty much does come with the original. The Shuffle comes with a 2" USB to proprietary headphone jack cable, making the Shuffle + cable tiny already.
Here's a pic of the included cable:

You're complaining because you want a smaller one? Really? (that's what she said) Really?
how much would a usb drive the same size of the shuffle cost?
$10
although I don't think you'd be able to get a 4GB Flash drive for $10. Not in the UK anyway.
Yes you can.
eh.. where? id love to buy one..
$10 = £6.70
for £5.99
own brand 4GB

You can, even in Mexico. And for a little more than 16 USD (using today's exchange rate, which is favorable to the peso) you can get an 8 GB kingstone. So no, this isn't a sweet deal at all.
@ james,
4GB = £6.49 inc. delivery

For $3 more you can get 16GB's for your thumb drive. Of course it doesn't have any fruit on the exterior shell, it isn't white, and doesn't match your existing decor ... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227333.
super overpriced at circuit city $60, no kidding, regular super cool best buy $10 with possible rebate
It sort of screams 'super pointless'.
Yes, but as an Apple accessory, isn't the "cool" factor worth $16.
instead of a usb plug, why not make a thing like this with controls (like the ones you'd have hanging on the heady cord) on it and a passthrough for any old headphones? This would be easily possible I think and would allow you to use any headphones.
Then again, Apple, why not just make buttons on the cord and on the player itself? Forget cost... they're raking in a great margin anyways. If they did this, the new shuffle wouldn't be a piece of crap.
sweet deal if your engadget
why not just rename your website macgadget already?
Your a moron...people hate because they put so much stuff about Macs. Mac is on the cutting edge of technology. It is what is hip and people want it. The best thing a Windows PC is good for is gaming. Anything else you can do on Mac or Linux.
Ugh, neither is inherently better at anything. The have the same hardware, the OS question is ambiguous and irrelevent at best. Is the better visual design and support worth the extra 3 to 500 dollars? depends on what you value. end of story.
awe look everyone a apple fanboy has his feelings hurt!
would it help if i sold you apple branded tissues at 10x the markup?
SARCASM
I don't understand why the word "your" is in the post title.
Clearly, NOBODY here owns one of these things.
Does it give it buttons? No? Then they are still both pointless.
If you could drag and drop music to the shuffle, this would be better but you need software (itunes or third party). And for $16 you could buy a decent usb drive.
Nah... I wouldn't buy it even for $5. Actually, I would never buy the shuffle. I still think it's a fail of design.
Mario / NeoSublime
Re-tar-do!
$79.00 Let me buy a device that uses morse code to work.
$--.00 Let me buy a dongle so that I can use my headphones. (snap i can't even do that, cuz its not out!)
$16.95 Let me buy an interface so that I can store info on it.
So let me get this straight, i have the smallest mp3 player, that requires accessories that are almost the same size as the actual mp3 player.
At least I dont have to purchase an armband, since i have two options, swallow the mp3 player or shove it up my @$%

Memories of the iPod Flea are flooding back to me...
guess you didn't notice the clip. Oh, wait - maybe you like putting things in your ass?
Aside from the fact it doesn't do anything your supplied cable can already do, that cash will buy you a nice little standalone thumbdrive. Totally pointless!
hey! dexim backwards is mixed... coincidence? o.O
DX used to sell those for two for $1.50 US. :\
Looks a lot like the first gen shuffle with that thing on it, no? Although I could use whatever headphones I wanted and have buttons a few years ago.
$16 is a bargain for any Apple loyal customer...
Just can wait for the inevertable button add on to come out
Completely waste of money. Just buy a flash drive if that's your fancy.
Completele waste of money. Just buy a flash drive if that's your fancy.
Anyone else find it screwy that the jack has three rings?
Left audio, Right Audio(stereo) And Data transfer.
That is how the device is powered.
No, it has an additional pin for USB data and presumably charging. The previous Shuffle did the same thing.
Might as well take a stick of gum, spray paint it metallic silver and put a apple logo on it. Considering that the hardware is worth about 3/4 the price, I might as well put a apple logo on my Sony Ericsson and wave it around.
i want the new ipod headphones with 720p HD video playback, youtube, iphone functions, and audio controls built in, all with mic / voice command and visual control through holographic display output also known as "HDO"
Out of curiosity.
Which one of you iDiots here plan on actually buying this thing?
Any takers?
does it make the new shuffle suck less? (I like most Apple products, but not the new shuffle)
Or you could buy the version that has been available for ages and only costs $1.57 shipped. http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.4670
Good find... But the $16 matches the shape and colour of the 3G, which is sooooo worth the extra $14. (actually from the picture it looks like the USB part is bigger than the shuffle, it would have to be!)
Fo sho this thing needs a dongle for universal headset support...
I'd prefer the opposite, with a little attachment to turn any USB drive into a shuffle-like player.
And i'll sit back and laugh at the people that buy this... the shuffle is small i know. But hanging out of your computer by its headphones jack is eventually going to wear it out.
