Video: Acer Aspire One D250 gets unboxed
Just days after the machine popped official on some of the company's overseas web portals, Acer's Aspire One D250 netbook has just been acquired and unboxed across the pond. The N280-powered rig doesn't look drastically different than previous Acer netbooks, but you know you're hungry to hit play and search intently for the minute changes. It's just past the break, by the way.

Phew that was hard..
WOW, i can't wait to play OnLive with this thing either..
you realise that due to economics and the fact that signals on the internet travel less than the speed of light onlive can't possibly work?
try pinging a local site you'll probably get like a 20ms or more ping which adds to 40ms roundtrip + say another 10 ms at least to render and another 20ms for who knows what... so about 70ms minimum with 10ms lag be recognizable by the human brain
well you might say... I can live with that bit of lag...
BUT! what about the other 90% of gamers that want NO LAG ... they aren't gonna bother with onlive so onlive will fail due to the cost of keeping up local game servers to reduce the latency and the fact that most gamers could care less...about streaming HD content over the internet which isn't feasable anyway with the compresion as low as they are talking about
lol wut
@cb88 Do you think you're the first person to voice those concerns?
There are are thousand people like you, all of whom threw themselves against their computers trying to prove how fundamentally impossible this thing is.
The people behind it have been interviewed extensively. Just wait, and you'll be able to demo it. Careful though - your head might explode.
yep if they defy the laws of physics my head will probably explode although it might not since I have not yet witnessed that event.... also the were demoing the tech on low latency links from what I hear and have confirmed that it doesn't work over high latency links (US to Australia iirc)
All im saying is people need to stop getting themselves all excited over it and wait till real benchmarks/videos of it in the real world are out. And it is a fact that latency will be over twice normal lantecy which is usually hidden from the gamer by the way the client - server works
Oh, that box is really putting up a fight!
Seriously, when are the ion netbooks coming? I want a netbook with a long ass battery, but I want something that will at least play some decent video files... I WANT ION ASAP!!!!
I lol'ed at the oversized apple sticker on his black acer.
That was loser.
I think thats a wind. I'm not sure but it didnt look like an acer. acers aren't that rounded. almost positive its a wind. or maybe a HP mini 1000.
Just bought a D150 due to the two MiniPCI-E slots inside. If it doesn't have the second one when it arrives, it's going back. I already bought a TV tuner for the second slot. No cellophane wrapping, so if I'm careful there's no restocking fee at Amazon. Awesome. But the SIM-card slot on the D250 would save me a lot when I add 3G and built-in Bluetooth will save me modding it on afterward. (I can't confirm whether the US versions have it or not)
Will someone please release a netbook with a high(er) res screen, usable MiniPCI-E slots galore, (ideally WIFI, SSD, TV, and 3G, but that's asking a lot), 2.5" SATA for the main drive, and upgradeable to 2 GB RAM? Kthx.
*M912X has a CFL backlight at hi-res and the keyboard sucks
*Dell Mini 10 won't upgrade to 2 GB RAM
*HP 2140 only has one MiniPCI-E slot AFAIK, (no mobo header traces even) so no 3G with this model
No MSI Wind/derivative in the US has the connector for the extra MiniPCI-E slot, and the RadioShack netbook is only 9 inches and can only upgrade to 1.5GB. I hate my life. And the reason is embarrassing.
Try Viagra! It doesn't have WIFI, SSD, TV, and 3G but it will lasts you four hours. If it exceed more than that, call your doctor.
@ Uchiha Sasuke
you just made my day.
damn if this one had a HDMI it would be perfect!
Dell mini 10 has hdmi but no 3g :(
why cant they have both damed.
I would like a touch book, but it doesn't run windows & it's not really upgrade friendly
LOL, that box took him forever to open, and he had a box cutter hahaha. It took him less time to disassemble the bottom. I do like it though and now I want one, til next week when Acer comes out with another one...etc....
Thrilling.
You can hear his stomach gurgle at the four minute mark.
ROFL. Wow. I think it was the camera guy's.
that was really funny!!
keep the f@kin apple sticker off, its confusing.
