Apple Store down globally (update: new Xserve)
Here we go again. It's Tuesday and the Apple store has gone down in the US, Europe, and across Asia which is a pretty good indicator of new product(s). So what are we looking at? 2TB Time Capsule, Xserve refresh (yawn), or something a bit more interesting (but not big enough for a press conference) like an ION-based Mac mini? We'll know in a few hours -- the Store usually lights up at 0830 New York time.Update: New Xserve announced (as rumored) with 2x the performance. A fine addition to your raised floor apartments we're sure.
[Thanks, Sam M.]

goddammit not this nonsense again.
Iphone 3...before the release of Palm Pre...
Hope it's not anything Mini related, I waited for the refresh to buy it and its in the back of the courier van on its way to me right now.
Will be going back if there is a significant change, hurrah for distance selling regulations :D
ZOMG teh Apple Store is down!!!!11!
I am sitting excitedly in front of my Mac with my credit card out!! Hurry hurry hurry!!
new Xserve and matching Xserve raid with 14x300GB SAS Drives mmmm.....Apples....
I thought they discontinued the xServe Raid?
2TB time capsule, new Xserves
New Xserves, confirmed!
...And it's only 1 TB, not 2.
Only looks like a new Xserve refresh. :-(
Yep, new Xserves...

lol , just new xserve and a pathetic 1TB time capsule...
Holy shit! 500usd for the 1TB... thats too much even in Apple terms.
Tell that to the iDiots who buy it.
But, you can't really blame them...or can you?
I mean, they go out and blow $3000 on a laptop/desktop (when the PC equivalent = half of that) and then to make their investments worthwhile, they have to justify it by spending more on add-ons because that's all that Apple will throw their way, scraps and bones every 6 months or so.
Just be glad that we have dozens of hardware releases on a weekly basis that will cover all of our needs and pricepoints.
@Hamidxa,
clicked on your profile. just wow.
I'm hoping for a new Airport Extreme with a built-in hard drive and a lightweight MacBook around 2kg.
What I can't understand is why the heck the whole store has to go down when you introduce a new product.
Do you see Amazon site going down everytime they add a listing?
I thought they had clever programmers over there in Cupertino.
see the responses to the other 500 times this question has been posted...
Yeah, I wanna pay $3000 - $3600 for a server which has to come down anytime I make a change to the web apps I'm serving on it. Brilliant ad, Apple, no wonder you're an afterthought in the server world.
I suppose I am the only one who is *actually* excited about a new XServe?
I'll go sit in the loser corner now :)
Not sure why you are excited, the specs on these servers are terrible. Go look at Dell's R610 1U sever 12 memory slots, 6 2.5" 15k SAS Hard Drives. And of course you can get VMware or Linux as well
I hear they are updating to competent personal that can update a site without taking it down for hours, it's not that hard you know, you just make a copy of the layout with the changes and point the pointer there, should be doable in a fraction of a second.
But I guess the wayback machine needs 5 hours to log the whole experience huh.
