600k DSis sold opening weekend in US and Europe
It wasn't the most hyped launch ever, but Nintendo's DSi had itself a fine little opening weekend, with 300,000 units moving in the US and Europe each. Not bad at all, considering that the first DS only sold 500,000 units in its first entire week in the US -- we're guessing the DSi will manage to meet that mark when the final numbers all come in. So, anyone out there pick one up?

You should save yourself $50, and return it for a DS Lite. It's not much of an improvement, and ROM Carts will be harder to use with those constant firmware updates. The same money will net you a PSP, which is a monstrous improvement over the DS.

I picked one up on Sunday - the teal blue one (it was all that was left). Other than not being able to play Guitar Hero On Tour I love it. Also nice is that it supports WPA encryption which my old DS Lite didn't. The bigger screen DOES make a difference, btw.
my son loves it got it the day after launch.
I'd grab it if it supported mp3 playback, not just aac. I think the camera could be alot of fun, and I see great things coming from DSiWare
I got one. The browser is nice, you can use a keyboard or write letters for it to recognize (keyboard is faster).
It will play music, but not in mp3 format, AAC and 3pg. it does support 32gb SD cards.
It also has memory blocks you can store your DSiware games on. and a menu almost like the wii.
Also, the camera software and the voice manipulation software that is on the DSi was fun for about an hour.
I cant wait till some new DSi ware comes, maybe some virtual GBA/SNES games?
I am disapointed that it did not ship with a DSi only game, so we could see the difference.
"virtual GBA/SNES games?"
God I hope so, this is a total drag. I feel like I wasted my money. At least I got a good trade-in value for my Lite and old games, ended up paying only $60 for my DSi. Still, I would feel a lot better about my purchase if you could download GB, GBC, and GBA games from the DSi shop. They're only like 16 MB max for GBA games, and considerably less for GB and GBC (like1-2 MB or less).
The Wii can download old games for home consoles, so this DS should be able to download old games for portables. Pretty obvious if you think about it. They might not add GBA games though, we'll see. Pokemon Red FTW!
i picked one up and it's pretty cool!
Even I the ex-Zune tattoo guy bought a Nintendo DSI. If only one of the major camera companies would partner with Nintendo to get their camera interface for a touchscreen camera that would be sweet.
Wow, not too shabby for a weekends work. Must be nice! Glad someone is rolling in money!

havent got one yet, but dont plan on it till I see why I should, If i see a new super mario bros come out and it makes some kind of funky use with the camera I can only do with the i, then I'll upgrade and if we can soon get roms for the i games then I till buy, but for now my Cyclo DS will work just fine as it always has, more then 40 games on my 4GB card, oh yea!!, hahaha
I want engadget to give a bunch away so I can win one.
You can't use GBA games with DSi... That means you can't use them to transfer Pokemon in Diamond/Pearl/Platinum. I think I'll stick with my DS Phat.
It would be nice if I could rebuy the entire Pokemon series for fairly cheap... If I could buy them for $10 each, which is about what used costs, I think, then I'd be able to replace the Red, Blue, Gold, Silver, and Crystal games I lost a few weeks back. The only version I was missing was LeafGreen, but I got that this week, but now I'm missing Pearl + GB/GBC games... Off to GameStop I go.
