MSI's Wind U123 netbook gets unboxed
We already caught MSI's upgraded Wind U120 (which goes by U123, if you must know) sitting pretty at CeBIT last month, but the crazy cats over at PortableMonkey have gone and got a model fresh in the box. Needless to say, this retail edition (which is hitting Japanese shelves any moment now) didn't stay packaged up for long, but we are happy to say that we've been cordially invited to feast our eyes upon the unboxing process. Right out of the gate, we have to share the disappointment in the lack of a rear panel for easily accessing the internal RAM and HDD, but at least the Atom N280 is a (minor) step above what we've grown accustomed to. Check the read link for all the pictorial delight.

sooo many stickers, so little time...
WOOOW!!! First thing I saw too...honestly, someone should go to the companies and tell them to stop ruining these products by putting shoddy, hard-to-remove stickers on their computers...
But knowing these companies, they'll probably charge you an extra $50 for a stickerless version. >_
What is with all the complaints about the stickers? There are only four of them... And all of them apart from the atom one don't leave any residue. (Once again from my U100.)
That's a lot of sticker residue to googone off.
I was just about to write a comment about stickers...
Same here
Same here... WOW thats a lot of stickers!
Needs moar stickers!
Looks like my son's bike with all those stickers.
enough with that atom processor already.
I was just thinking of a cleaver comment about those stickers but as it turns out so was everyone else looking at that picture. But, my first thought was "Wow, another little PC".
Great minds think alike! :)
Buy a mac, it doesn't come with stickers like other Windows notebooks.
Buddy, you typed your nickname with an extra a, I believe it's "Sad Rabies".
That's why it's more expensive
that's why macs are boring
"that's why macs are boring"
are sexy*
I don't think I could live with myself if my PC had such a tiny space bar.
It just does not look right.
Does it come with a razor blade to remove all those stickers?
More stickers = more better!
= more stickier = more googone = more flammable
Screw the stickers - how many status LEDs does a netbook need? 8 - ??? For what? Jeesh.
1: Netbook on
2: Netbook off
3: Battery high
4: Battery low
etc...
@Martin-
Did you read what you just posted? Makes no sense. A LED to indicate the netbook is OFF?
absolutc-
Yes, I attempted to make fun of the fact that there are so many indicator LEDs; that at least some of them must have a very pointless function.
Ok. :) Hard to tell sometimes on the web. Lol.
it a binary clock!
5. LEDs working
The led lights are for (I have a U100), Wifi On, Bluetooth on, Sleep, Battery power, Charging, Hdd activity, and a couple of other ones i don't know.
@theillien.
I laughed so hard. LOL!!!!!!
Uh, MSI? Are you planning to actually release the U115? Or was that just for show?
If you remove all the stickers the weight of the machine is reduced by at least 10%.
However it appears that the keys of the keyboard would fall off if you do that.
if the screen isn't loaded also with stickers is a no buy for me.
anybody know about the battery life on this?
Read the stickers!
Yeah, except this machine, like any other MSI Wind, has a screwed-on removable panel to access the memory and hard drive.
Point being?
Lol @ spacebar. It's just a bit longer than the shift key.
Was it some kind of contest?
Who can stuff more keys on a netbook...
And the winner is, MSI's Wind U123
Ok, I know netbooks are not meant for games. But I've been meaning to get one that can handle semi-recent games? What games do you think this could handle?

WHEN the notebooks manufacturers will (finally!) END to put TONS of USELESS (Intel, OS, HW specs, Antivirus, WiFi, etc.) unsightly and non removable LABELS on the notebook top near the trackpad???

A good place to buy the MSI Wind Products are here

Variation #99999999 on effectively the same Atom processor & Intel chipset thing. BORING! Lets gets some significantly new guts inside!
its so hideous!
you are Worried about stickers, not the quality (or lack there of) of the parts inside? When you buy a new car, do you reconsider because of the dealers sticker on the trunk lid? When you buy efficient windows to save energy in your home, do you complain of the stickers on them describing efficiency? How about the same on Air conditioners? Come on folks, there is a whole lot MORE to complain about in this world than STICKERS!!!!
MSI Wind U123 Nascar edition...
LOL!!!!!
